Acaden Lewis decommits from KY

crazy if this is where he ends up at the possible sake of more Pitino tampering

Is that best St Johns can show? Two silver balls propped up? Probably for regular season and conference tournament championship.

Pitino is slime I came to that conclusion when I found myself rooting for the Razorbacks and Calipari in the Dance:confused:
Yes and have been through this and we have a faction here that roots for them based on them strengthening the BE. Now we have his son at Xavier and may the best teams prevail but I have always disliked St. John’s and particularly their fans who were planning parade routes when they got bounced in the round of 32.
If you heard the media down there leading up to that you would have thought that Pitino had already built a dynasty there. Good job but hard to like him and them.

Their St John’s bb forum now claims UConn is their arch rival. Funny, nobody mentioned that to us. I would tell them your team needs to be relevant more than once every 40 years. Also, talking crap on they are the team to beat this year. I still consider Syracuse to be a bigger rival than the Johnies.

The next few years with Pitino there I think St. John’s is definitely more of a rival than Syracuse. Let’s enjoy this, St. John’s looks to be back and UConn never went anywhere. Should be fun. On paper both teams look very good.

More of a rival going forward since the Orange left the BE years ago, but we’ve had a greater history with them than St John’s

I'm thinking it may be a good idea for St John's fans and PC fans to get together and form their own rivalry. Each views their team as our rival while we barely notice their existence. They'll each get a rival (hell, they can call the trophy the Pitino table cloth) and we can rid ourselves of a couple on nuisances.

We have kind of rotated our biggest rivals. Kittles’ Nova, then Iverson’s Georgetown, then Cuse, then Ron Artest’s St. John’s, then probably Pitt for a good 8 years with some Cuse mixed in, then Louisville, then Cincy, then ourselves, then Nova, then Marquette, then, for a year, our only rival was the history books and how prominently we placed inside them.

Syracuse probably would have been the most consistent No. 2 rival in the years they weren’t No. 1. Providence would have been the team that most often thought of us as a rival when we weren’t paying them any mind.

St. John's seems to be involved with 75% of portal players. How many spots do they have???

A good amount of spots.

Senior/5th years:

Scott (27 MPG)
Richmond (32 MPG)
Smith (27 MPG)

Portal:
Luis (32 MPG)
Dunlap (16 MPG in 10 games)

Only Zuby and Wilcher return among those playing over 10 MPG. They only have Sanon and Hopkins in the portal so far and no freshmen. So assuming Sanon and Hopkins get 30 a piece they still have about 50-60 MPG to offer unless their less played players make a jump.

Add a trigger warning when posting wild speculation with no substance from him...
I think UConn cooled on his recruitment last year, not Lewis. Guessing the staff moved on. Some school with real need will need to fork over big NIL and he would be a luxury for us, not a need.

I would've thought that running the conference player of the year out of town would be a bigger red flag, but I guess not

I don't know about that. UConn visited with him after their White House visit on September 10, 2024. They then got him on an official visit to UConn on September 20. Why go through that if they weren't interested in him? He then visited Duke and Kentucky and committed to Kentucky on November 2.

Adams committed after the Lewis OV on 9/30 so Everyone assumed we wouldn’t keep recruiting Lewis after that. Adams is on record saying he was recruited as a CG to play the 1&2.

Don’t think we cooled at all. Seemed like we wanted two of Lewis, Adams, Mullins, Meleek Thomas and I surmise that we grouped those four into PG/CG type and pure scorer type. Adams was ready to commit, Lewis was not.

That's probably more likely the situation. UConn wouldn't have taken both. So if Lewis had committed on his official visit on 9/20 would UConn have stopped recruiting Adams? Which one was the priority? Questions we'll probably never know the answer to.

I just had an issue with the other poster saying UConn "cooled on his recruitment" since that makes it sound like they never would have taken his commitment. That's very different than UConn taking another recruit first and then stopped recruiting Lewis.

So … you are visiting the St John’s bb forum, yet claim they aren’t a serious rival? Then why are you looking at their forums??

I’ll bet the UConn/St J tix are $$$$ next year for good reason, and I already look forward to it. For the NOW, they are as good a rival as anyone.

Yes I visited and no I don’t consider them a rival yet. 1 year doesn’t earn them that right. Yeah ticket prices may be high because New Yorkers consider us a rival and will pay anything to attend. I would not.
