I don't know about that. UConn visited with him after their White House visit on September 10, 2024. They then got him on an official visit to UConn on September 20. Why go through that if they weren't interested in him? He then visited Duke and Kentucky and committed to Kentucky on November 2.I think UConn cooled on his recruitment last year, not Lewis. Guessing the staff moved on. Some school with real need will need to fork over big NIL and he would be a luxury for us, not a need.
Adams committed after the Lewis OV on 9/30 so Everyone assumed we wouldn’t keep recruiting Lewis after that. Adams is on record saying he was recruited as a CG to play the 1&2.I don't know about that. UConn visited with him after their White House visit on September 10, 2024. Don’t think we cooled at all. Seemed like we wanted two of Lewis, Adams, Mullins, Meleek Thomas and I surmise that we grouped those four into PG/CG type and pure scorer type. Adams was ready to commit, Lewis was not.I think UConn cooled on his recruitment last year, not Lewis. Guessing the staff moved on. That's probably more likely the situation. UConn wouldn't have taken both. So if Lewis had committed on his official visit on 9/20 would UConn have stopped recruiting Adams? Which one was the priority? Questions we'll probably never know the answer to.Adams committed after the Lewis OV on 9/30 so Everyone assumed we wouldn’t keep recruiting Lewis after that. I didn’t post it for accurate information. It was just for entertainment to laugh at Zanetto whose podcast is a joke.Add a trigger warning when posting wild speculation with no substance from him...
So … you are visiting the St John’s bb forum, yet claim they aren’t a serious rival? Then why are you looking at their forums??Their St John’s bb forum now claims UConn is their arch rival. Funny, nobody mentioned that to us. I would tell them your team needs to be relevant more than once every 40 years. Also, talking crap on they are the team to beat this year. I still consider Syracuse to be a bigger rival than the Johnies.
What? Is there an "only allowed to look at forums of teams you consider a rival" rule I missed? So … you are visiting the St John’s bb forum, yet claim they aren’t a serious rival? Then why are you looking at their forums??
Yes I visited and no I don’t consider them a rival yet. 1 year doesn’t earn them that right. Yeah ticket prices may be high because New Yorkers consider us a rival and will pay anything to attend. I would not.So … you are visiting the St John’s bb forum, yet claim they aren’t a serious rival? Then why are you looking at their forums??
I’ll bet the UConn/St J tix are $$$$ next year for good reason, and I already look forward to it. For the NOW, they are as good a rival as anyone.
On alternate years the Air Friar Chicken award,I'm thinking it may be a good idea for St John's fans and PC fans to get together and form their own rivalry. Each views their team as our rival while we barely notice their existence. They'll each get a rival (hell, they can call the trophy the Pitino table cloth) and we can rid ourselves of a couple on nuisances.
Did you see ticket prices for the St. John’s game at Gampel this year? They weren’t cheap.Yes I visited and no I don’t consider them a rival yet. 1 year doesn’t earn them that right. Yeah ticket prices may be high because New Yorkers consider us a rival and will pay anything to attend. I would not.
I think UConn got the PGs it wanted from the portal. I think the backcourt and SF positions are now locked in.I know we were in the hunt for this guy before we signed Darius Adams. He is a point guard and was a top 10 recruit. Do you think the staff has reconnected with him and would be a good PG add?
I want to beat everyone on our schedule next year, but (as far as known scheduled games go) there is no one school that I want to beat more than any other. More specifically, at least at the moment there is no one potential loss that I would view as easier to accept than any other.I want to beat them next year more than anybody on our schedule.
I love all the projections that have us at #4or 5 now. Remember last year?
We have recruiting, integration of new players, eyeball tests and finally beating a couple decent teams before we know what we may have. That is not negative it’s reality.
Seems to be lining up decently though.
Smith penetrates to pass so that is somewhat of a slasher. He can score when going to the hoop even though it isn't at a high rate. We really had no one to penetrate after Diarra got hurt. McNeeley tried but he was abysmal on finishing or even dishing out assists from his penetrations.I want another slasher on the roster.
Before McNeeley got hurt that was an area I thought he was really coming around. We would run stuff where he looked like a shooter, but he would curl and go downhill and make great reads. In the Gonzaga-Xavier-Butler stretch he had 15 assists (and two turnovers) and was averaging 20 ppg.Smith penetrates to pass so that is somewhat of a slasher. You don’t want to beat St. John’s more than DePaul or New Hampshire? Live a little, man.I want to beat everyone on our schedule next year, but (as far as known scheduled games go) there is no one school that I want to beat more than any other. The teams that I do most want us to beat next year are the teams that we will face in the NCAA tournament. If we win each of those games, I will gladly accept a few losses prior to that point.
If we play them in the NCAA tournament, I will want that win more than any game played in November, December, January, February. You don’t want to beat St. John’s more than DePaul or New Hampshire? Live a little, man.
The difference is that wins over those 2 you mentioned are fully expected. We got beat by Seton Hall last year and they played out of their minds and killed themselves effort wise and we couldn’t get the ball in. We shouldn’t have lost but I can accept that in a season where we lost quite a bit.If we play them in the NCAA tournament, I will want that win more than any game played in November, December, January, February.
Obviously there are only two possible outcomes in all games. In a non-elimination scenario, wanting one win more than others translates to wanting one loss less than others. Are you really willing to say that a loss to DePaul or New Hampshire won't bother you as much as a loss to St John's?
I'm not subscribing to that either and while they did sweep us this past season, I don't view them as a bully; I view them as wannabes. They will be a team we will need to spend time concerning ourselves with when they earn it. When that day occurs I most likely place more value in the games against them, until then, they are one of quite a few schools that wants to believe they are more relevant in our eyes than they really are.The difference is that wins over those 2 you mentioned are fully expected. St. John’s under Pitino has become a bully on the block. Remember the Pitino comment about waving as he passes by Storrs?
They are the LAST team I want to lose to in the Big East and I dare say that would be echoed by most here.
I don’t subscribe to they are good so it’s ok to lose to them. Nope.
