Who is the all-Big East billionaire team? I only really know of George Kurtz Seton Hall grad Crowdstrike founder and CEO, Mark Walter Creighton grad Dodgers and Lakers owner, and Mike Repole St. John's grad Vitamin Water founder. I think Georgetown and Nova each have a couple of billionaires. How much are they paying The Pope these days?

We need a star to replace Mullins in the starting lineup next year. If Landrew isn’t that guy (Jake W referred to him as a project) then I just don’t see what hole he fills when we’ll have County Furphy and Ross backing up the 1,2,3

Assuming we get County the only 2 holes we should have are starting SF and backup PF/C which isn’t a role Cloer couldve filled either
I think it should be pretty telling then that the staff is or was recruiting Cloer, Toure, Samuels, and Landrew. Apparently they see a role for a freshman wing off the bench

They also saw a role for Mahaney so fair game to wonder. Even if there is a potential role for a backup wing it’s not as important as starting wing and backup PF/C since We’ll have County and at least 1 of Furphy/Ross (but hopefully both), as backup wings. No one in the grid to back up Stu or Reibe. So can we agree we shouldnt blow our nut on Landrew unless he’s good enough to be a starter?

I have my opinions about our wing group and why I would pursue Landrew even off the bench, but that's besides the point. I'm just saying considering we are pursuing 4 wings and continuing to bring them in for visits it seems pretty safe to assume we want one to commit

Yes yes it’s very clear that staff is prioritizing a seemingly backup quality wing, I’m wondering why that’s the case because it also seems clear that isnt one of our 2 biggest needs

Who are these lawn guys you know who have $25 million?
Very common in Florida. When you have 100’s of residential and commercial accounts the company is worth millions. I have friends with commercial landscaping, pest control and AC companies etc. worth many, many millions of dollars. The owners do not ride a mower at this point in their lives.

One of my best friends sold his lawn/landscaping business for $20 mill about 7 years ago. He wishes he kept it. It’s worth much more now. Annual contracts for the big HOA communities can easily run 2.5 million per year and he had a lot of them. There’s huge money in it and successful companies are constantly buyout targets by national companies and PE.

Especially if you keep your labor costs down. A lot harder to find workers these days for landscaping work.

Byron's compensation at Astronomer has not been made public, but the New York Post estimated his net worth to be between $20 million and $70 million.

Could be off but that's very far from a billion.
Yep, I think when I was watching it, I guess it was his company that was worth over a billion that they were reporting and not his personal worth.

While his salary isn't public, the Economic Times estimated Byron, who took over the company in 2023, is worth between $20 and $70 million. Astronomer itself was estimated to be worth between $1.2 and $1.3 billion after its Series D funding round in May 2025.Jul 18, 2025

I think UConn is the surest thing heading into the season along with Houston and Purdue but I think St. John's is the most talented team on paper with the best coach. If Ian Jackson and Darling can give them good point guard play they are the scariest team in the country.
Best coach ???????????????????????????????

Maybe Darling can. But Pitino trying to turn Ian Jackson into a PG is going to be a hilarious watch.

Your second line is one of the issues with this board and fanbase. We would've gladly taken literally any of the players Cal beat us for over the years. Was Meleek Thomas "not a UConn kinda kid"? He was far and away the board's #1 want last year. Hamadou? Brandon Knight? The list goes on and on.

Suppose Toure chooses Arkansas, good for him. It's not a slight on his character or that he's not an example of a "UConn" player. I hate it when posters go there when we lose out on a player. Believe it or not, other schools in the country can provide as good, if not a better, experience as UConn. And with today's CBB, $$ is pretty much the #1 thing that matters.
No Way Wow GIF

Super interesting that Trilly can’t get a good read on Toures decision, only seems to think it isn’t us.

Yeah considering 247 has 100% Crystal Ball going to Providence. Maybe Arkansas has a real shot competing against Providence.

Depends on the sets they run. He could be PG for very basic stuff, and if they play like last year it's more defense that creates offense (not sure they have the players for that this year), but overall I agree that will be hilarious, or Pitino's best coaching job ever. Nobody who has ever watched Jackson, goes, "That's my PG."

They’ll probably be bounced from the tourney early again if that’s the plan.

After all the great guards who had at Louisville in surprised he’s doing this. Pitino likes to lean way too much into “modern” basketball sometimes and he’s been doing that forever.

I liked watching Ian Jackson last year where he had, if I recall correctly, 7 straight good games from the middle of December to mid January and then he just hit a wall and wasn't that impactful. I also saw his potential live when I was in Maui when he played against Dayton and then Auburn. He is a very good shot creator off the dribble, something last year's UConn team really needed.

But PG is not in his skill set, I mean at all. As he does not pass well or have the vision for it. Could he become a solid PG or even better? Perhaps, but it will take a lot of developmental work for that to happen.

That’s crazy, how do you turn that down? You don’t. Good grief, how much are they willing to toss to Holt? Sheesh
He could make so much money in the NBA where that's nothing but yeah unreal money for an 18 year old or any "normies."

There is no way UConn or PC are spending that on a recruit. Cal says he doesn’t like freshman but he’s apparently decided he’s not losing this kid. What a lying pos.

PC already spent a lot to have Carrie Underwood at their LNM. That’s not a joke for those of you in disbelief right now.

Arkansas threw a big bag today. It’s them I’m afraid. Oh well, I guess we didn’t have a good of chance as anyone. 😂. Now we can talk about who gets him next year.
How did you find this out?

Saw on the trillycord 1.3 mil. Don’t blame us for backing off at that number…
See this thread if you want to know how Arkansas can throw that much money at a freshman who might not play much right away. That second quote was probably from Calipari. Lol

Really? That’s weird.

247 has 1 crystal ball in from what appears to be an AI model, so it could definitely be wrong
