Projected Starters:

RHP Austin Peterson (4-0, 2.65 ERA) vs. RHP Richie Dell (3-0, 4.06 ERA)
RHP Pat Gallagher (4-2, 2.67 ERA) vs. RHP Rocco Bernadina (0-0, 10.70 ERA)
RHP Enzo Stefanoni (3-1, 2.70 ERA) vs. LHP Collin Romel (2-3, 6.07 ERA)

Some changes…

I had been wondering ever since David Smith dropped to the bottom of the order if Bryan Padilla might move up to the top of the order at some point. Padilla keeps hitting and getting on base, so it happened, at least for now.

The D.H. spot in the lineup has more or less been turned into a spot for regular position players getting a day of rest from playing the field, but keeping their bats in the lineup. That has meant not much playing time for either Kevin Ferrer or Christian Fedko of late. Well, Fedko gets a turn in the lineup today, certainly don't mind that.

It was mentioned on Tuesday that Kevin Ferrer is still battling back from injury.

Missed that, thanks for that update. I though he could be still be hurting, but didn't know for sure. No doubt that has influenced the use of the D.H. spot of late.

Chris Jones has been talking about how good Kent State baseball has been over the years. UConn and Kent State baseball are among the leaders in wins from schools north of the Mason Dixon Line over the last decade or so. Also, Kent State has made the NCAA Tournament 5 times since 2010. They have been the dominant baseball team in the MAC. Based on that info, not surprised they would wind up on UConn's schedule at some point.

Top 2nd, UConn goes down in order. No score.

Chris Jones says Kevin Ferrer did not travel with the team this weekend due to injury. He may be available to play next Tuesday.

Offense must have left their bats in California. This extended slump is strange.

Bottom 3rd, 2 out solo homer for Kent State ties the game at 1. An inside the park homer misplayed in the outfield makes it 2-1 for Kent State.

1-2-3 bottom of the 4th for Peterson

Stock leads off the 5th with a double and a walk to Dana, but Stock is picked off 2nd

Bottom 6th, Kent State gets a 2 out rbi single. 4-3 UConn.

Sounds like very close quarters in the Kent State Press Box…

I've been thinking the same thing since the beginning of the game. Hear the Kent State play by play while listening to Chris Jones.

Top 7th, UConn goes down in order.

Brady Afthim warming in the UConn bullpen.
