Sounds like very close quarters in the Kent State Press Box…

I've been thinking the same thing since the beginning of the game. Hear the Kent State play by play while listening to Chris Jones.

Top 9th, UConn with a scoreless inning.

Chris Jones talking about all the pop outs and fly outs by the UConn bats. The implication is that they are swinging for the fences again.

Justin Willis taking the mound for the bottom of the 9th.

What a gutsy win by the guys today. Peterson fought all outing long and the guys rewarded him with a win!! Great inning by Willis! Another double digit strikeout performance from Peterson today and 3 clutch RBIs from Bush!!

Would have been a killer loss. Given the weak RPI of the remainder of our schedule, we can afford very few losses. If we want to even contemplate hosting a sub-regional, win or hit the road.

This might be the first time I've seen snow flurries with these postgame interviews.

Coach Penders quite pleased with the pitching, but he's sick of all the pop ups that he saw from the UConn bats.
Pop-ups often are the result of swinging for the fences. Perhaps all the early season home runs have influenced our behavior.

RPI is so bogus in baseball. Best teams are going to lose a few including one or two to bad teams. Even the 1927 Yankees, considered by many the best team of all times, lost 30% of their games.

you have to like that our lineup took 8 walks; that was important in the early innings,

Yes, was thinking the same thing. All this early season power and top it off with short fences and wind blowing out to right leads to swinging for the fences.

The usual Saturday start for Matt Garbowski, and Matt Donlan moves to D.H. for the day. The D.H. spot which has become the rest home for UConn regular position players getting a day off in the field.
