Wow major blow for Texas. I know they have wings coming in but Crump is a stud and will be one of the most coveted transfers this cycle.

Her finalists were Texas, Duke, and Ohio State. I could see her fitting in well at at either program. Duke graduates Ashlon Jackson and Ohio State loses Chance Gray, Crump would fit in well replacing either of those 2.

I wouldn't be shocked if programs like UCONN, UCLA or Vanderbilt make a push for her. She'll thrive a program that prioritizes perimeter shooting and spacing the floor on offense.

I have no idea if this applies to Crump, but with the money growing ever larger in WBB, street agents and other illegal and/or unethical middlemen are contacting players directly and shopping them under the radar. I have no doubt calls are being made to players by street agents saying, “I have a school in a P4 conference that’s interested in you and I can get you XYZ if you sign with me.”

Carlton plays the same position as Sarah Strong and they were both class of 2024. I recall Carlton visited LSU officially. Her other finalists were UConn, South Carolina, and Arizona, but I don't think she visited any of those 3 officially.

I've wondered this since it happened, but why did she choose Iowa State? Even though she played her last two seasons of high school in San Diego, CA, I see that she now considers Missouri as her home state. Other than proximity, I couldn't figure out why she chose ISU.

As to the post you were replying to regarding academics, one does wonder, on the other hand it was mentioned a couple of times on broadcasts during the tourney that a surprising number of players are graduating in 3 years. I find that interesting - to free them up to pursue a grad transfer? I have no idea, I'd love to know. I had a friend that graduated in 3 years many, many years ago. But his time wasn't taken up by athletics.

If you’re motivated, you take them during the summer during the winter session I’m getting a degree in three years is very doable

In the past, many players would be able to graduate in 3 because they stayed on campus over the summer working out and taking classes. Today I think more can do so, particularly with online classes and I do think some may be motivated to do it because it gives them options regarding the potential to grad transfer.

I think she's likely to go to a mid major. She's still quite raw and has an extensive injury history. I don't see her being a contributor on a P4 tournament caliber team.

She might be better than you think, but I'm just glad she is giving it a go. It is difficult to leave the friends behind I am sure, but there is enough talent that she should be playing.

Maybe a lower P4 program, American or A10. And I don't disagree--she might wind up being a lot better than I'm expecting.

Graduating in 3 is a combo of a couple things:

1- summer credits; many players including UConn's often spend summer semester on campus, taking classes and working on their game. Those credits help toward finishing early.

2- college credit from high school; with AP Courses and College Equivalent courses now taught in high schools, there is a chance to start college with some credits already on the record.

It can be, but seldom is, taking extra classes during regular semesters precisely as you point out, due to time pressure of sports.
