2026 schedule and search for 12th game

So of the 4 "candidates"(UConn, Memphis, Tulane and USF), who wants to face off and who will run away(assuming that is what USF did). Put another way, which of the 4 feels they have the inside track to the "Golden Ticket"?

UConn, Memphis, Tulane and USF, the only real candidates for P4 promotion, have to choose their cross engagement very carefully.
I like trial by combat. Let's make a deal with Netflix and the B1G for a four team round-robin tournament. Winner gets into the B1G, second place gets a set of steak knives, third and fourth place have their programs dissolved.

Would be nice if Uconn plays Yale in the bowl. Plenty of Uconn fans down here in southern Connecticut. Think about us for once. We buy season tickets too. While you are at it Mr. Benedict how about a baseball game in New Haven.
Huskies sports fan in New Haven? Minimal chance UConn schedules an away football game with Yale nor any FCS opponent, but New Haven area residents had 2 games this weekend to cheer on the Huskies in the Elm City.

Winning #13 ranked UConn’s 2nd consecutive CT Ice championship, the Huskies thrashed host Yale 5-2
in Friday’s semifinal in world renowned Ingall’s Rink. Yesterday, UConn came from behind in the final to knock off #6 Qunnipiac 4-2 in The Whale.

A home-and-home agreement with a future game at The Rent is a positive. Not exactly an away game in a likely UConn recruiting target area nor close to many players’ families, alumni nor other Huskies’ fans, and definitely not The Grove, but not quite as stark a destination as Starkville. /s

So 8 home games... why would we do that especially since it won't count towards anything

Southern Miss?

It's a weird thing to make "premium" unless we are getting ND or OSU.

Not something like FIU or Marshall.

I’m intrigued by the folks who think they know refusing to give up a name for what, $10?

I guess after weeks of info bombardment; a down time would drive discussions like these

You are allowed to “withhold” information on a contract that is under negotiation, though. Guessing that is what going on here. Once the agreement is locked down they will announce it. The fact that some individual or group has leaked the information is interesting but not relevant.
That is correct. But they are presumably not “withholding” it. They are telling some folks and not everyone. That is not a how state with strict FOIA laws is supposed to operate.

Why do I get the sense that BizLaw is gonna be the first guy to ever file a Freedom Of Information Act request to find out a football game location...
Nah. I’ll wait or look it up. But I think I’m allowed to be bothered by a state entity in effect selling early access to public information. It is not a good precedent, and while it’s fine if this one doesn’t bother you we could easily hypothesize situations where it would.

If the other school hasn’t announced either it likely isn’t 100% executed. But either way without saying who I wouldn’t get too excited waiting to find out.

The FOIA is literally the public institution giving an individual information without widely telling everyone else. They often give said information and receive money (aka selling it) for giving providing that information to that individual..

Aside from those points, the state is not in fact selling information or doing anything in relation to the FOIA in this case. The idea that they need to tell the boneyard if they tell any other particular person is quite an interesting theory though.

I had guessed USF as #12 in another thread since Uconn owes an @ USF game (9-2-2028). But this post seems to rule that out even though hasn't listed Kent St yet as USF's OOC game 4. My 2nd guess would be FIU since we owe them a game (2027) and swapping it up to this year would give them 4 OOC and fill out both schedules for 2026

Just maybe it's not signed yet? I mean, I guess you'll sue about the Notre Dame multi-year agreement not being consummated, as it was just as much "out there? "

The Kent State/USF game is a bummer because those were my top remaining choices. Although, what is interesting is the Pac 12 pushed back their announcement. Everything is trending toward Southern Miss.

Hot take: I'd rather play Jacksonville State than USM. Southern Miss won 7 games last year but they've been horrible before that. There's really not much to gain from that game other than a bad road loss. It's not like FIU where it's a destination game. I wouldn't be 100% shocked to see Jax State in that Sun Belt title game again. Still a decent atmosphere there (they have dorms that can see the field I think?), even if their stadium is a bit high-schoolish and a motivated fan base. Alabama may be a little better to visit than Mississippi?

On principle, I agree with you. Transparency for any government agency is crucial, whether it's the Department of Corrections or the Department of Engineering. This is just a very weird instance to want to make that point, in my opinion.

It's clearly going to get released way ahead of the time anyone would realistically need to do anything with the information, and there's no preexisting government-stated deadline for the release...
