2026 schedule and search for 12th game

I’m intrigued by the folks who think they know refusing to give up a name for what, $10?

I guess after weeks of info bombardment; a down time would drive discussions like these

You are allowed to “withhold” information on a contract that is under negotiation, though. Guessing that is what going on here. Once the agreement is locked down they will announce it. The fact that some individual or group has leaked the information is interesting but not relevant.
That is correct. But they are presumably not “withholding” it. They are telling some folks and not everyone. That is not a how state with strict FOIA laws is supposed to operate.

Why do I get the sense that BizLaw is gonna be the first guy to ever file a Freedom Of Information Act request to find out a football game location...
Nah. I’ll wait or look it up. But I think I’m allowed to be bothered by a state entity in effect selling early access to public information. It is not a good precedent, and while it’s fine if this one doesn’t bother you we could easily hypothesize situations where it would.

If the other school hasn’t announced either it likely isn’t 100% executed. But either way without saying who I wouldn’t get too excited waiting to find out.

Or some knucklehead in the AD’s office overheard AD Dave and Candle saying what do you think about going to Florida Gulf Coast and calling his contact at Storrs Central and telling him we are playing FGC. In fact that is the more likely scenario.

The FOIA is literally the public institution giving an individual information without widely telling everyone else. They often give said information and receive money (aka selling it) for giving providing that information to that individual..

Aside from those points, the state is not in fact selling information or doing anything in relation to the FOIA in this case. The idea that they need to tell the boneyard if they tell any other particular person is quite an interesting theory though.

I had guessed USF as #12 in another thread since Uconn owes an @ USF game (9-2-2028). But this post seems to rule that out even though hasn't listed Kent St yet as USF's OOC game 4. My 2nd guess would be FIU since we owe them a game (2027) and swapping it up to this year would give them 4 OOC and fill out both schedules for 2026

Just maybe it's not signed yet? I mean, I guess you'll sue about the Notre Dame multi-year agreement not being consummated, as it was just as much "out there? "

USF and Kent unlikely as Kent scheduled Wofford (FCS) during the only day where USF would be available for them.

I don’t have access to Storrs Central but my guess is Southern Miss

Edit: Should’ve stayed quiet. USF and Kent officially scheduled 10/17

The Kent State/USF game is a bummer because those were my top remaining choices. Although, what is interesting is the Pac 12 pushed back their announcement. Everything is trending toward Southern Miss.

Hot take: I'd rather play Jacksonville State than USM. Southern Miss won 7 games last year but they've been horrible before that. There's really not much to gain from that game other than a bad road loss. It's not like FIU where it's a destination game. I wouldn't be 100% shocked to see Jax State in that Sun Belt title game again. Still a decent atmosphere there (they have dorms that can see the field I think?), even if their stadium is a bit high-schoolish and a motivated fan base. Alabama may be a little better to visit than Mississippi?

Based on the last few posts in this thread, I am amazed at the amount of people that post here that are not Storrs Central subscribers.
Did you read the fine print ? There's been alot of changes the last year or so,
"Storrs Central is an independent site and is not affiliated with University of Connecticut. ©2026 Storrs Central. All rights reserved"

I send my thousands in donations a year, directly to Uconn Athletics for NIL, etc. Never believed in funding certain third party carpet baggers who left now that the money is gone. Though there are a few fine people still there, that I used to help out freely at a different Uconn site in the past.

On principle, I agree with you. Transparency for any government agency is crucial, whether it's the Department of Corrections or the Department of Engineering. This is just a very weird instance to want to make that point, in my opinion.

It's clearly going to get released way ahead of the time anyone would realistically need to do anything with the information, and there's no preexisting government-stated deadline for the release...

FWIW, Jacksonville State’s not even in the Sun Belt. If UConn was to schedule a CUSA opponent, FIU might have been helpful for recruiting purposes in FL, and convenience for SE player’s’ families, alumni and other Huskies’ fans. Inconveniently, it appears that wasn’t possible to work out.

JSU’s located in a run down crap hole of a town and a CUSA school. Other than being under 2 hours from Atlanta, so direct flights to ATL, few if any truly compelling reasons exist to visit Jacksonville for fans. Even for Civil War history buffs, far more interesting locations exist. Luckily, the 12th game’s not in Jacksonville.

Agree with all of that. As I keep saying, this is not really a football point. It’s a government point that has happened to come up in a football context.

We never heard how the class action suit over the Blue Lot was coming. Maybe this would just be another case of BLACO.

Yes, it's a hole and Hattiesburg is a little closer to New Orleans than Jacksonville is to Atlanta but if you are considering a road game, Colorado Springs or Laramie would be far more scenic and interesting places to visit anyway, especially for outdoor stuff. Colorado Springs area is amazing, plus plenty of military history being a service academy (even if a more recent one).

It says a lot more for UConn's schedule that they add a third team that played in a G6 conference title game last year than a Southern Miss program that hasn't finished a regular season above .500 before last year since 2017 and the only thing they had going for them was a coach who left for Memphis. Jacksonville St actually seems to care about football still and has won 9 games all three years in FBS. I also think of it this way; a loss at Jacksonville State is going to age a lot better than a loss to Southern Miss.

I mean, the situation sucks anyway. I'd rather lose a buy game to be honest. Duke screwed us because they could have kept the extra OOC game - the ACC didn't force them to drop it. They just didn't want to lose to us again lol

Agree with all of that. As I keep saying, this is not really a football point. It’s a government point that has happened to come up in a football context.

So, getting this straight...

1) It's not a government point
2) You have no way of knowing if a contract is signed (and I would guess it's not, else there is no reason to hold this back)

Either one of these 2 kills your argument. 1 is certain, the 2nd is likely.

Did someone swipe your login? This sounds like a hill to die on, which reminds everyone of 1 poster...
