2026 roster needs

He did start for us early this year with Mullins out. He had some good moments. Don’t know how long he had injury issues.
I'd be ok with it - see how he responds to being given 30 guaranteed minutes in a more natural position. Only issue is he is a bit small for it in today's world.

Interesting that the title game was held only a few days before Estrella committed to Michigan. Tampering perhaps?
There were a handful of kids who committed on Wednesday, some less than 36 hours after the portal opened. I have a hard time believing coaches and the players make important decisions like this that quickly. There has to be lots of tampering going on.

What’s especially disturbing was that Michigan was still in the tourney when these talks happened. I could see it if Kansas or Kentucky who were out quickly but that still doesn’t make it ok.

Credit Dusty. Dude works.

Hurley certainly doesn’t portal early. Seems to cringe him.
Danny has integrity. He follows a code, knows right from wrong, won’t bs players to get them here, and can look in the mirror and say I gave it my all. Even though Andrea sometimes has to knock him down a peg and call him out as a glorified gym teacher.

I thought he played Dixon (Villanova) pretty well. As long as he’s healthy, I wouldn’t hold him back. He plays bigger.

Let’s be honest that’s not a bad basketball team. But if Ross and Stew start we aren’t playing for a national championship. The portal needs to be really good to us or we’re only middle of the pack Big East and hopefully in the run to get to the dance. Listen I like Huskies who are loyal and those 2 are fantastic bench pieces, we’re stronger because of that. But that’s what they are for a program like the Huskies.

I hope they get a chance to prove the board wrong about how good our players can be, again.

We need MAJOR pieces to shore up this current roster unless guys like Furphy are superstars in waiting. I wonder when this all happens. I hope soon.

Is it a bit concerning we are not linked to any of these guys in the portal at the moment? I think I have seen we were interested in one and he was not a big.

Oh I know you are but we’ve seen them for 3 years and we know the strengths as well as the weaknesses. If they get that much better at their weaknesses then the crow will be well worth it but again if you bet on that, I’m guessing we’ll have a long year for us.

Ball isn't coming back if he has to come off the bench.

If Mullins is back it will be interesting. I think, although a freshman, Landrew will be pushing for a spot with his style game. Have to see how his ball handling and passing skills are at the next level, but he can play. No matter, we need to land some really good, creative players.

I'm high on Landrew too. I expect big things out of him and if Ball and Mullins back it would create a logjam there. I guess could he play the 4 in a small ball scenario if we get a big athletic center would be my question? Probably not ideal and would probably just be a small scenario in certain games. I'm sure we are looking for a legit 4 to go with a Legit 5.

Zero chance ball comes off the bench.

Stew and Ross can't start together. The only really consistent scorer in that lineup is Mullins. Silas can score sometimes but is better as a secondary option. Stew and Ross are way too inconsistent on offense to rely on them together and I don't see a ton of centers who are going to come in and be good enough offensively to make up for that. We've also seen the two of them disappear for huge stretches, and while Ross made nice progress as the end of the year he's still a one dimensional offensive player (but lockdown defender) I think is best off the bench or starting depending on matchups. Still not sure what to make of Stew.

I think, assuming Mullins and Solo are back, you're set at guard, but they need to bring someone in at the 4 or 5 who is the legitimate number two offensive option in the starting lineup. May be a pipe dream

I think if we get Hines at center and the way Hurley develops them we could have a real chance of good scorer there. He has already showed glimpses of that in Seton Hall offense which is encouraging since what they don't run there. LOL!. It will be interesting if Mullins and Ball come back as that could create the same issues we saw this year as both are better suited for the 2 and you can't play them at the same time. I'm sure Mullins will come in stronger next year but can he guard bigger 3s we will have to see.

Mullins had several physical issues throughout the season and I don't think his ankle was ever really 100% Solo's wrist was a mess basically all season. Other teams will have a hell of a time trying to guard both of them.

Our best statistical lineup was with Stewart and Mullins and Ball out. It was one of the best 5 man groups in the country based on the analytics. At least before his injury.

I am too - he's coming in with a ready to go body - expect major contributions from him as a freshman between the 3 & 4.

We need to land a 5 before we can figure anything else out. Ball is definitely not coming off the bench. The fact Ross now committed a couple days ago and Solo and Stew haven't tells me they are weighing things. I'd have expected Solo to also be one of the first signees to come back - the pause makes me wonder what the considerations are.

I like Jaylin but he's never shown he can be a consistent scorer even when he's had consistent minutes. No way can we start both Jaylin and Jayden together. You need to score the ball, we lost 36 ppg in tournament scoring between Tarris and AK, not to mention all the other things they brought us. That needs to be replaced through the portal.

I agree on the Ball thing. Maybe Mullins is really coming back and Hurley wants him to start at 2 over Ball. Who knows at this point. I guess we will figure out a lot of things in the coming days it seems like.

A guess on my part. Maybe Solo is waiting on Mullins decision-NIL ask- before he establishes his parameters. More of an indication of his agent's recommendation than if Solo returns. Grain of salt

Can we not invent things out of whole cloth? Solo is waiting for Mullins and may be weighing his options while Stewart is xxx ...

No one knows anything!

It would seem without saying Ball is waiting on Mullins. It's impossible to know what the staff is thinking. If Mullins is back, I do think there is a world where Ball is odd man out if we want to maintain any size and balance. The assortment of players we have returning has some positional redundancy - Ross, Landrew, Mullins, even Stew at the 3.

I don't disagree, but he makes better decisions than some of our other players. I don't think we know what Mullins is doing yet. Ross is back but I think he's sharing time with Landrew. We need two 5s and a 4, plus a backup PG.

Roster construction at the moment is not great. We have three SGs, one PG, two SFs and one swing forward plus whatever Furphy is, most likely a 4th SG. I think Hurley expected Solo would have made a leap by now and be gone.
