2025 WNBA Regular Season

Groin injuries are tough to heal when one's playing. I had one in high school that lingered off and on throughout the year because I was involved in different sports.

Per the broadcasters of tonight's game, it sounds like this is a day-to-day situation per Coach White. That's encouraging.

Adding this clip from CBS Sports Network's "We Need to Talk" show with Lisa Leslie's take on the groin situation. In addition to this great insight, I enjoy catching this show when I can as it does a great job talking about women's sports as a whole.

Regardless of who is playing or not playing this All-Star weekend, I will be watching the events. Looking forward to seeing the 3-Ball shootout and especially the Skills Challenge. Huge fan of that All-Star event vs the 3 Point Contest.

...and she shot well, just getting edged out of a spot in the finals. Overall, all five shooters did themselves proud. Congrats to Sabrina!
Heck yeah. I was impressed. Not sure how much time she had to prep for the contest but to step in and do that well, it just has to boost her confidence going forward. Great job by all.

In a classy move Ionescu gives half her winnings to Citron. Sab also could be seen visibly giving Citron encouragement throughout the event.
I loved seeing the SisterHood by all of the players out there. The narrative that certain players are "toxic" or not being able to get along with each other. It was great to see the players having fun and enjoying each other.

The livestream by Williams and Heideman of Minnesota for their Studbudz channel was hilarious during the festivities the night before. Some of the clips I saw showed that these players have a great time together off the court and have a lot of respect for each other.

YouTube has the full video. It was hilarious. Courtney and Natisha have that charisma! It was a great watch other than some of the sound being blocked out but I chalked that up to copywriting issues with some of the music being played in the background.

Even though it shows some of the players getting up to some…shenanigans…I think the Studbudz stream blowing up on social media is actually a great thing. It’s hilarious and you can see so many players being friends with each other, supporting each other, having fun. Even Cathy Engelbert and Cheryl Reeve were in on the fun, as unbelievable as that is! Tyrese Haliburton appeared and said he was a fan also.

The sound blocking out is them intentionally muting the stream so the audience can’t hear what they’re saying ;)

Yeah it was great to see the players bonding and having those unexpected moments like Coach Reeve and Commish Engelbert singing and dancing. It was fun and props to the Studbudz for sharing with us fans.

Are we sure about that? Coach Reeve made a statement that whatever we saw of her was generated by AI. ;)

I'm sure there are a few players than can't stand eachother as with any workplace but I'm really impressed with how most of the players seem to get along away from the competition. Even immediately after the games end. For as physical as it is I'm surprised. There seems to be a lot of respect for each other. It's a good thing too with all the movement from team to team. Somebody could be your team mate a week from now!

Prior to this season, the highest percent of games lost by at least 20 points was 30.0% (1998 Washington Mystics). So far his season, the Connecticut Sun have last an astonishing 47.1% of their games by at least 20 points. Their percentages of losses by at least 15 points, at least 25 points, at least 30 points, at least 35 points, and at least 45 points are also higher than any team in history (by much smaller margins). I understand that they trying to best position themselves to draft Juju Watkins in 2027, but do they have to the this bad?
Here's an All-Star break update on the Sun:

They have played only 5 more games, going 1-4 (0.200). This is about what one would expect from a that had a 0.118 winning percentage. However, the losses have been qualitatively different. Their worst loss was by only 18 points and two losses were by single digits. Their percent of games lost by 20 or more points has dropped to 36.4%, significantly closing the gap on the 1998 Mystics. Their percentages of losses by at least 15 and 25 points are no longer worse than any team in history (but percentages of losses by at least 30, 35, and 40 points still are). They appear to be veering off the path of being the worst team ever, but they are still the worst team in the league by far.

Up to the 2025 All-Star break, they have lost a higher percentage of games than any other team, as well as a higher percentage than any other team of losses by at least 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 points. This is not unprecedented for a full season; the 1998 Washington Mystics have done this. If you include ties in percentages, the 1997 Utah Starzz, 2010 Tulsa Shock, 2011 Tulsa Shock, and the 2020 New York Liberty have also accomplished this.

By mid June, four teams had established themselves at the worst in the league: the Los Angeles Sparks, the Chicago Sky, the Dallas Wings and the Connecticut Sun. Starting June 20, the Sparks and Sky, and to a lesser extent, the Wings seem to have figured it out.
While Connecticut's losses have been better, only the Sun's trajectory has not changed.

Yeah I'm not sure i get the dislike for Tibbets. Unless people are angry he's not a minority woman. By all accounts he's a terrific coach, but when you have starters of Cloud, Copper, Taurasi, Griner, and Cunningham... Dee had great moments, but it was her last season, and Sophie as a starter?

And for the record, head coaches SHOULD be paid a lot of $ in the W - draw the best talent you can regardless of sex or race.

Allen, Taylor, Sutton, Mack and Billings got the most minutes off the bench. A pretty solid roster overall, but to judge a HC solely based on his first/second season with the inherited roster, and in this case, a new one for 2025...
Halfway through the season, Phoenix is 15-7 and sits in third place.
Of their top three scorers, Sabally has missed four games, Thomas has missed five games, and Copper has missed 16 games.
While Natalie Nakase is COY for the first half of the season, Tibbets could emerge as a COY favorite if Phoenix finishes with 30 or more wins.

That being said, General Manager Nick U'Ren could win Executive of the Year. He signed four rookies to the roster who are averaging between 7 and 8.7 ppg (Held, Ako Makani, Laksa, and K. Westbeld -- only one of whom was drafted by WNBA teams). He made the decision to let Griner go in free agency, while signing Sabally and A.Thomas.

Over her last 14 games, Angel Reese has averaged 16.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game while hitting 50.3% from the field.
She had at least 15 points and 10 boards in the last eight of those games, tying A’ja Wilson for WNBA record.
