2025 WNBA Regular Season

A'ja Wilson was -18, and Veronica Burton was +40. Really??

Coach Nakase was with Vegas for the last 3 years. How much do they miss her? A lot or a whole lot?
Jackie Young was a -20 and Jewell Loyd a -23 while combining for two made FGs and nine points. If you're going to try to make this an "A'ja Wilson" failure, you'll have to fight hard to overlook the incompetence of her teammates.

Natalie may be missed, but this is the same coach who just lost four straight games (one of them in completely meltdown fashion to a Mercury team missing several players). She hasn't shown herself to be a good WNBA coach.

BTW, Kiah Stokes' minutes are dwindling and she's on a non-guaranteed contract. I guess Becky finally figured out that if you're not going to get any production out of the center spot, go with other options (even if they're not posts).

Watched Q3 and a bit of Q4 of Indiana-Chicago yesterday. Aari was fitting in nicely. They'll have to release her as soon as either Cunningham or Clark comes back. Hopefully she's showing she has value and another team will scoop her up when she becomes available.

Yep. I just finished watching that Fever/Sky game and it was nice to see Aari having another solid game. Things were hot and cold in Atlanta and Los Angeles for Aari but hopefully, like you said, she is showing that she still has value to help a team.

I wasn't making it about A'ja, but was contrasting one of the best players in the sport with a relative unknown on an expansion team.

Are Jewell and Jackie (both with multiple Olympic gold medals and multiple All-Star appearances) somehow unknown? They play a similar position to Burton and performed much worse than she did.

Oh, and what were the Aces (not) thinking getting rid of Kate Martin? Don't care if she's nothing more than a charismatic spark plug who can give a team 10-15 minutes. The Aces just look lethargic....
Kate played 26 minutes and finished with a rating of +30; really vocal on defense. 1st game she really looked like she belonged.

That Indiana/Chicago should give both teams a lot to learn from. For Indiana, even though it was Chicago, they should take a lot of positives from this game, especially Bonner. She has been crushing it in the absence of Clark. Bonner putting up 14 a game since Caitlin went down compared to only 4 a game when Clark was playing. DB needed these games. The Fever players are building that confidence knowing that they can play without CC. That ball and player movement and reads, once CC gets cleared to play, is going to be really fluid. Indiana is going to be dangerous.

For Chicago. Plenty of season left. They just have to hang in there and fight through this rough path. Hopefully stay focused on the team and the whatever culture/vision/goals the coaching staff have for them. There were some positives out there for the Sky. Some ball movement. Players were cutting a little more. The reads and reactions were getting better. Glad to see Hailey Van Lith getting some minutes. The Sky just has to hang in there. Keep getting better.

Vegas obviously didn't just lose Nakase. They also lost Tyler Marsh, so the coaching staff is pretty well revamped. Bench is also rebuilt. So far Evans/Mitchell are providing less than Hayes/Clark (no surprise to me). But also huge is that Loyd is scoring under 10 ppg on low shooting numbers. Plum had some detractors, but she filled a role for the Aces and she filled it well. I think she was fairly undervalued. Loyd so far isn't even remotely close to filling that same role. I think many thought they upgraded at that position, clearly they have done the opposite. Gray has been better than she was last year, but still I don't think near her prime level. Probably won't get back to that again. Most striking is she is only averaging 3.4 assists per game. Wilson is actually leading the team at 3.9. Previously they had several years of Gray, Young and Plum all averaging at least in the 4-5 per game range. Not getting that kind of multiple play making guards action this year.

From a casual fan’s perspective (mine) only Wilson gets national commercials that seem mandated to remind everyone how many mvp’s she has won. She complained about the crown being heavy, well that’s life.

That doesn't mean that she should be the only player receiving criticism, especially when people are so quick to point out that Vegas has four members of Team USA.

Also, if that's what you took from the commercial, then you missed a lot.

Given the way y'all carry on about A'ja, I would hate to see what y'all would've had to say about Swoopes and Leslie.

Plum was a good shooter, passer, and scorer.
Ace's aren't scoring well or defending well.

When did the Lynx sign Kliundikova (formerly Vadeeva)? I'm thinking this is her first game with them. LA's cast offs from training camp are becoming valued replacement players throughout the league as injuries mount.

Minny gave up most of the lead in Q3, but got it back in Q4. MVPhee had 28/10/4/4/3. Still leading the W in scoring.

Paige was out with an illness. Get well, P!

Proud founding season ticket holder! It's hard to understate how awesome the vibe in Ballhalla is. I've never attended a sports venue that has regularly been so insanely off the hook. The crowd is so into it, whether up 30 or down 10, and we're all in it, cheering loudly, down to the very last possession. It's funny to say, but we're already fretting which players we may lose next season, not because we aren't likely to get (much) better free agents, but because the players give it their all, and the fans do too, and we both have so much admiration for each other.
This is great to hear. I'm stoked for this to be such a quick success story. Hopefully some act of force majeure will cause the Wings organization to abruptly disband and Paige can go there in the aftermath.
