2025 WNBA Regular Season

And that help does it "calmly." Perhaps the experience overseas has a lot to do with it, but there's good chemistry -- whether it comes together organically and/or partially helped by the "million-dollar" coach, I'll leave to individual posters. ;)

In any case, they're an interesting and altogether surprisingly team to watch so far. It will be really interesting to see how they fare once Ms. Kopper is bac
Playing the Sparks also helped

Glad to see it. I'm still not sure I see a long-term future in the league for her unless she fixes her jump shot, but getting out of Atlanta and a second chance with a new team will only help. Notwithstanding what some think about the "million dollar coach," I'm liking what I'm seeing in terms of the team identity and culture they're building in Phoenix. Way, way better than the quasi-toxic vibes of the past three or four years
One would hope that 1.2 million a year would bring some improvement.

He is temporarily one game over .500 pending the trip to Minnesota.

As to the roster -who leaves when Cooper returns

Yesterday's win in la was the first on the road for the Mercury.

Winning on the road is very difficult.

They have beaten the Mystics, Sparks, and Sky by five points or less at home. They did thrash the Storm while losing to Minnesota at home and the Storm on the road. I think the game tonight gives us a good sense for whatever progress is being made in Phoenix. The real question becomes what do the Mercury do once Cooper returns

This is related to the WNBA current season... tangentially.

With Molly Miller's departure as well as 8 seniors I suspected the Grand Canyon Lopes were in for a long rebuild.

Well maybe I was wrong and while duplicating 30 wins is a high goal -coach gandy certainly is making a strong showing.

Most recruiting ass coaching additions have been impressive the latest Celeste Taylor

Big game tonight in Minnesota as the million dollar coach takes his team on the road. A loss would return the 1.2 million salaried Mercury head coach to .500.

Cheryl Reeves took her team sans Collier to the valley of the Sun and was able to pick up a tough road win.

Reeves always emphasizes the importance of defending the home court and winning at home.

Looking forward to tonight's game which should clearly reflect the impact of both coaching and culture.

Fans in the Target center enjoyed the Lynx extending the unbeaten streak to 8.

After falling behind in the first quarter the links went on a 22 to 5 run and interestingly enough Karlie Samuelson's 3 gave the Lynx the lead for the first time in the game. She and Natasha off the bench are electric and started their performance a combined six for six.

So there is excellent coaching, culture, performance on display and it wasn't associated with the $1.2 million dollar coach.

2 minutes left in the third quarter and the Lynx bench is celebrating. I think they're also laughing because what they're seeing on the court for an opponent is laughable.

Nate Tibbetts must have the same agent as the fashionista, former kitty now SMU coach.

Nate's agent belongs in the agent Hall of fame. His deal is on the same level as Bobby Bonilla.

Megan McConnell played in a WNBA game! Looks like she's on a short term contract w/ the Mercury? I'm gonna guess there have not been very many brother and sister combinations playing simultaneously in the NBA and WNBA. Big bro TJ is heading into the Finals w/ the Pacers.

Is Dolson nearing the end of her career? She's started every game for the Mystics but has been fairly unproductive and inefficient.

Fever finally won a game without Clark.

But she injured her leg. I hope she's ok.

Send her to Dallas. Let her sure up the defensive woes and set screens for Paige and Arike.

Meanwhile, Seattle came from behind to beat Dallas. Gabby was really good.
Really came here just to shout out Gabby. She's just so solid. I know it's not surprise after following her internationally and she's always been pretty good. But she's surpassed my expectations as a player. Like this 3 level scoring defensive anchor version of her is so impressive. This may be a weird question as I know players are always continuing to develop and get better, and I know she was a monster at UConn but is there a player who's game has continued to expand and grow like Gabby's throughout the W? Ppl say certain players will make better pros, but I honestly can't think of too many.

I am a bit concerned about Aaliyah Edwards in Washington. I know she is coming off an injury. But Iriafen plays the same position as her; and she just seems better.
Another sophomore jinx for AE. Jk. It's a good question, I really like their 3 young bigs. I like Dolson too, I just kinda think she belongs on a vet team. I'm not too concerned it's a good problem to have imo. Perhaps AE can play center and then bring Shakira off the bench and somewhat limit her minutes as she seems susceptible to injury.

It was nice to see the rebounding Samuelson hasn't lost her touch.

Great win here in Minnesota! Very proud of the way the Lynx are playing right now. 35 points from the bench! Well done, Minnesota!!

Seattle- I did not watch the game, just saw the scores on/off. Too close of a game but glad Seattle got the win. Definitely will have to watch later.

Indiana/Washington- That was actually a decent game to watch. Kiki and Sonia are not playing like rookies. Wow! Kiki is outworking folks out there. Sonia is just so steady. Those two are going to be All-Stars real soon. Indiana got their win!! Always been a fan of Lexie Hull. That young lady does not get a lot of respect for her toughness. The Fever did look a little better in some areas of their game, handles, ball movement, and rotations on defense and a little better offensive flow in this game. They played well. Good game to watch.

I will call for dallas to replace the coach at some point. I am not someone that thinks you have to give a coach a full year no matter what. If this team gets to like 1-15; I will start arguing for a coaching change.

I think the roster is poorly constructed. But what I have seen is also not acceptable.

Dallas was very competitive against Seattle last night and this was without Bueckers and Harris running the point. No one saw this team being an upstart underdog. Carrington showed why she was Most Improved last season. They didn't need Ogunbowale to be the leading point scorer. They killed Seattle on the offensive glass when they have a size deficit.

Even if the coach is fired mid-season, how will that improve things? And who is available to take over that would make a significant impact at this point of the season?

Like I've said before in previous posts, this is very similar to what Indiana went through last year. There were complaints about the roster, coaching, etc. Sides did just enough to make the team more competitive for the second half finding gems in Hull and Temi (now at GS), when they hadn't been seen as key pieces before. The off-season is going to be wide open for free agency. Dallas should have an easier time attracting free agents.

Who gets shown the door first - the 1.2 million dollar coach or the Dallas coach

Remember this is Dallas. Their mantra is to make their opponent look good.

Last in defense, last in team cohesion, and last in the hearts of Texans

Glad Gabby took advantage of the Dallas defense that can only be described as pathetic

Really? 5-3 is .500? Not sure why you have like 4 posts on here ridiculing him - I think Phoenix is doing incredible given they are without Copper AND Alyssa Thomas not to mention back up center Mack...

I'll be curious to see how good they are when they got Thomas and Copper back. And for the record, I do think WNBA coaches should be paid good salaries. As should the players, which is apparently changing in the very near future...
