2025 Transfer wish list

What about Kate Koval from Notre Dame? I don't follow the Golden Domers at all, but isn't she a pretty good "big" Freshman prospect?

Based upon our current roster structure, I would be very leery of using the fifteenth scholarship on anyone other than a one year player. The 2026 class is very good and we are currently limited in the number of that class we can bring in. We also don't want to chase Vukosa away.

Weimar seems to be the only other post player in the portal that might fit that profile but I know very little about her.

My pecking order would be Williams then Miles, then Smith. Beyond those three, I'm not sure anyone else would be a clear upgrade to our roster. Others could provide more depth and injury insurance, but anyone with more than one year remaining has to be weighed against the opportunity cost of having another spot for a high school recruit or portal addition next year.

For now I presume we only have spot available and that makes Williams the obvious choice at a position of need. If we wound up with two spots adding Miles to Williams of course would be a dream scenario as she is a clear upgrade over KK. Smith may not be a star, but if we can't get Williams, I consider her better than what I expect Jana, Ice or Ayanna to be next year, but maybe not by a very big margin.

Koval is a little interesting and obviously we pursued her in HS, but I think she underachieved relative to expectations, and might be in the mix with our other bigs not named Sarah, but she might not be better than them either IMO.

Morgan and Tonya are following Latson on instagram :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

But I would pick Miles and Serah Williams from the portal.

Olivia provides another scoring option, and moxie.

Meanwhile, Williams is a solid post. Which is what we are lacking.

I would consider Koval, but I think she heads to Michigan to play with the Swords sisters. Especially after Michigan’s own post player entered the portal.

Idk if UConn is a serious option for Latson. Her agent is Klutch Sports so I would assume they know the WCBB powerhouses and the success a program like UConn provides.

ND appears to be self-destructing. I guess we will hear more about that. Miles is going o TCU to replace Van Lith. Koval is 6'5" and could be as interesting as Williams. This has become must watch Portal.

We only have one spot for next season. To me that says either get an upgrade or don’t add anyone. How many upgrades are out there either in the post or the guard spots? Not a lot, especially since many folks already think Blanca will likely start before the season is over. I don’t see any upgrades besides Serah at the post and besides Miles at guard.

I really like Kneepkens and Miles. Miles because of her leadership and playmaking, would complement Sarah and Azzi well.

Kneepkens is a stud and so incredibly efficient.

My 2 cents. A Kaitlyn replacement is a bigger need than a big. Her departure leaves a gap that Kelis won’t be ready for yet. You may want upgrades to everyone but Sarah, but the Huskies will have many big and athletic bodies.

I'm not sure Geno could find another Kaitlyn, a perfect fit for the one year, a grad transfer from Princeton (Carla Berube). UConn culture is special and the transfers in (Lou, Dorka) were also special. None of them had egos like those out there now - the fit is probably more important than the resume. If it's right it will come about and if not, another build from within just like before...

Google, probably
Is google a place, like the bottom of my sock drawer, or the dusty spot under the living room sofa? I find stuff in those places all the time.

My transfer wishlist: Syla Swords. There is no one currently in the portal that I am desperate to see UConn go for. I also don’t totally know our situation for 2026 yet. Need to see what happens next week.

I heard Garzen the 6'3" Jr wing and amazing 3 point shooter is in the portal. If spots open up, a big if, she would be worth pursuing.

There is Malonga the 6'6" girl in France who it seems is eligible for next year's draft and is a projected 1st round pick and one year stop gap. Her and Williams would allow us to match up with the Betts sisters or any size out there. If Brady or El Alfy stay you get 15-20 fouls to give. 10 fouls in the post doesn't seem to be enough in today's NCAA. Top Teams are so deep today that just having a few stars isn't enough
Malonga is indeed a great talent but is both eligible for this year's draft, and expected to be picked in the top 5 or 6 if not higher. If she was interested in attending college in the US you bet! but I think she went thru that decision a couple of years ago.

UConn is loaded at the wing position

Guards - KK, Azzi, Ashlynn, Allie, Kelis
Wings - Caroline, Sarah, Morgan, Blanca, Qadence
Forwards - Ayanna, Ice, Jana, Gandy

Caroline, Sarah, and Morgan are positionless, really. Not sure if Blanca is as well yet

Yeah, Howell would be a terrific addition, but seems unlikely for numerous reasons.
Probably wants more playing time. And even though I think she would be in the rotation at UConn. Definitely wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter.

We could have more scholarships available if others transfer out (not speculating who). Not counting anyone out after all the transfer surprises so far.
