ND is in the mix for her tooI like Heckel a lot. She is tremendously fast, maybe even faster than KK. She has a decent shot too.

If UConn wants heckel and is really competing with Notre dame. I feel confident UConn can win that. The draft, Kate Koval, proximity to home. There are a lot of factors that I feel could tip that battle into UConn’s favor.ND is in the mix for her too
Heckel with Hildago? Bad chemistry there. Heckel with Fudd? Smooth as silk.If UConn wants heckel and is really competing with Notre dame. I feel confident UConn can win that. The draft, Kate Koval, proximity to home. There are a lot of factors that I feel could tip that battle into UConn’s favor.
Edit: Oluchi is good. But I don’t think that is a position of need for UConn.
You've all provided a lot of very negative interpretations of my post that certainly were not intended.Imo, we can make at least 4 fair statements about Allie:
It is an absurd leap from (1)-(4) into a statement effectively implying that Allie is unengaged, perhaps overrated, and underperforming scholly-taker.
- (1) Allie was not part of the 9-starter-level-basketball-players in peak postseason-form (new Geno blueprint) in this recent championship run;
- (2) Geno said he sees two types of UConn freshmen — rare players like Sarah who are UConn-ready as Athena-sprung-from-the-head-of-Zeus and other players who need seasoning in UConn’s practice-driven farm system; Allie is unlike Sarah in being UConn-ready as a freshman, but, then again, very few are like Sarah;
- (3) The coaching staff said Allie “does not miss” in practice; so, for Allie’s core competency as a shooter, the coaching staff sees potential in Allie as a future peak postseason rotation player;
- (4) Towards the end of the regular season, Geno used Allie as the point guard in some possessions; I’ve commented earlier that there are shades of Maria Conlon in Allie (a complement) as she may be used by Geno as part of KK’s backup point guard platoon next season, especially in the tough OOC schedule when Kellis is still getting her sea legs while Morgan is recovering from injury.
- What makes your entire statement a bit off-putting is that while your preamble consists of individually true statements, it is non-sequitur to use them to justify your absurd implication.
Interesting
Well, the deadline to enter the portal so you don't have to sit out a year is April 23, however, it may take a while for all the players within to find a destination.Only one more week, right? Then all will be known?
Thanks for the correction. So, once the window closes for entrants, I imagine there won't be much incentive on either side to wait long. Coaches won't be waiting to see who else might enter, and players may be worried that the good spots will be taken quickly at that point.Well, the deadline to enter the portal so you don't have to sit out a year is April 23, however, it may take a while for all the player within to find a destination.

And they're taking it easy on you.I'm new to this forum and am surprised at the frequent accusations of "hidden agendas", "unspoken implications", etc. Having followed UConn b-ball for about 60 years (plus over half a decade at Storrs) I appreciate the passion but sometimes it's a little crazed (in my opinion -- I have NO EVIDENCE).![]()
Respectful discourse in a written forum requires that you are aware of how your post is going to be perceived.You've all provided a lot of very negative interpretations of my post that certainly were not intended.
I never said she was lazy or just taking up space (those are your extrapolations). She played very little and behind Morgan so clearly she has "things" to work on. I did speculate that defense (and associated quickness/fitness) was likely one since her reputation as a shooter is well documented.
Finally, the catalyst for my comment was that others felt that we should not participate in the transfer pool because we already have players that we recruited directly from HS. Thus my comment -- "UConn's practice of short-term "plugs" while hoping people like Allie can make the jump to the next level is wise and fair to recruits."

Go Huskies!!
Oh my goodness Jeff30189, this really is a little too creepy for me. I will definitely be engaging the Ignore feature.Respectful discourse in a written forum requires that you are aware of how your post is going to be perceived.
Since this discourse is unlike person-to-person speaking in that normal instantaneous content nuances are mostly absent, it is a good rule, at least for me, to write a draft of what I intend to say and proof it for clarity, precision, appropriateness, respectfulness, collegiality etc, so I am confident that what I have written will be perceived as I intended.
Since many people interpreted what you said similarly to how I did, it is fair to say that you misspoke.
PS. It is true that the Board has had “beating on dead horses” posters which annoyed a lot of posters including me when I used to be a lurker. I don’t think you are that kind of poster, so take the criticism on your posting style constructively.
- So the ameliorative action is on your part to (a) clarify what you said and (b) to take steps to avoid being misinterpreted in the future.
Anyone else remember this name?
As I recall, she seemed rather like Blanca, a big muscular guard/wing who ran the court well. Maybe not quite as big as Blanca.Emely Rodriquez # 12 6'0", a freshman at UCF. As a H.S. senior
in Florida she led her team to a state championship.
As a senior she averaged 26+ points per game,
15.5 rebounds per game, and 5.5 assists per game.
Her stats this year with UCF seems to indicate that her
senior achievements were not overly inflated. Of note
to BONEYARD members: Emely is from La Romana,
Dominican Republic, another possible addition to
GENO's INTERNATIONAL Assembly! Well, ... it's
at least another point in her favor!!

I agree with you on this one. I was kind of surprised where she did end up though.Olivia Miles has spoken openly on her dislike of UConn
"Leadership" this past year = Paige + Kaitlyn. "Leadership" this coming year = Azzi + ?. IMO Azzi is by nature a more passive personality than Paige thus somewhat less expectations there, so ? has to be someone special and most likely from the PG position. Whether or not Geno selects from the portal will give us his opinion of this situation.UConn has 14 players that they recruited that are all extremely talented players. I don't think they "need" anyone from the portal but might entertain adding the right person if they fell into their lap. This year they added a player that helped with leadership but I really don't think that is a needed commodity on next years team.
They are going to have 10 players who contributed this year and a couple who were injured that could be a big part of their team going forward. They have KK who in my opinion will be a step up at the point so the big hole will be who comes in and takes the Paige minutes? They don't need to be Paige either, they have Azzi and Sarah so the third scorer will have a lot of really good looks.
I agree! I don't see Azzi in a leadership role per se. Those responsibilities would be better suited for someone else, allowing Azzi to concentrate on doing the things she does best. So the question IS, where does that leadership come from? If Caroline were to be ready to play 30 minutes aggressively, then she would be the ideal person. But that's an extremely big IF at this point."Leadership" this past year = Paige + Kaitlyn. "Leadership" this coming year = Azzi + ?. I sort of agree. But, as I may have said in another thread, Azzi was effectively a co-leader with Nika three seasons ago until she was injured. I suspect she doesn’t want to be the vocal leader in on-court huddles. But she is an inspirational leader in every other respect. Can KK supply the voice while Azzi and Sarah supply the ‘muscle’? In her first two seasons, Paige wasn’t really the vocal leader on the floor and ceded that role to Evina and Nika.I agree! I don't see Azzi in a leadership role per se.
