Also, somebody that clearly shows command of the offense... shows the ability to see the field, not focus on one receiver... and can run if/when need be
So basically a QB that would never consider us...

Just find a guy that can hit the slants, Sammis wants to set you up with the run and then hit slants and back shoulder throws on you.

Don't care who offered coming out of HS. Just find a guy with tape showing he could be accurate in college games. FBS/FCS.

61.5% and 18 TDs to 5 Ints. Works for me. He also had 2 rough games in a row is why he was benched.
And a new coach. New coaches always want "their guy"

If Tyler Van Dyke enters the portal, I'd hand him the keys. He's got one year left, and the younger guys might need another year before they're ready. Bring Tyler home for his final year of ball.

He had two really good games to start the season against FSU and Duquesne. The rest of the season, he struggled both passing and running the ball. And, the stats say he struggled when under pressure especially when compared to the QB who replaced him James. On passes thrown over 10 yards, Castellanos was 45.5% with 6 TDs and 3 Ints and James was 61.4% with 6 TDs and 1 Int.

And, it was pretty clear that Castellanos' passing ability didn't fit what Bill O'Brien wants to do on offense and he was replaced at QB.

He got demoted at BC because he is not an accurate passer.

Castellanos would be the best QB we’ve had since at least Pindell, If we get someone better, great, but if we got him it would be a material upgrade from where we are.

Boston College was so much better after they benched him. Like 10 points a game better without him.
I believe the conversation is who Castellanos would be competing against with the Huskies and if he would be an upgrade there. Not whether or not he was the best option for the beagles. If he was the best option for them he'd likely be more apt to stay there. So it's not relevant that he wasn't their best option. Just what he can/had accomplished and if that would translate to a new team.

I'd rather get a guy who didn't quit when he was benched. Not sure that's a fit for the culture.

Also, I don't think he is as good as he is made out to be.

You have to trust your staff, but I'd rather grab someone who has proven he is good at the CUSA/Sunbelt/MAC level than someone at a P-4 school who has decided he hasn't seen a pathway to get on the field. But maybe that's just me.
This 100%. We are still building a bridge to Welliver and we need someone who has had substantial playing time - a step right in guy, not a project. An adequate quarterback who can manage a game is so much more important for this team than someone who is high potential but limited experience. That's who we need to pursue.

Fagnano was not better this year because he is necessarily a better QB than Evers -- it was because JF came into the season with over 1500 career NCAA snaps under his belt and Evers with fewer than five.

You also have to give welliver a fair shot eventually to show guys you can come here and have your opportunity

I believe this too. Way to do it IMO is to not annoint the NIL/transfer the starter. Reports in the summer were that Fagnano was killing it in practice but Nick had a much higher ceiling. No need to rehash who appeared to be more ready in games. Just play the best guy regardless of NIL.

Evers needs to significantly improve. He was one of the worst performing QBs in the FBS this year.

He would be a good addition for UConn. Would easily be the best QB on the team. The issue is would he be a good fit since he quit on his team.
Who quit first, BC on him or him on BC? Seems like BC showed him the door.
