What a game from Laney-Hamilton. Coach Brondello acknowledged she's not 100%, but she found another gear and scored 20 points today. Her contributions were critical for today's game. Especially when Ionescu only took 1 or 2 shots for the entire second half.

Does anyone think that the media either downplays Stewie's abilities defensively or doesn't highlight them nearly enough? Seems like they did the same with Lauren Jackson.

She's averaged 1.9 turnovers a game this season. In today's game she had 3 while Collier had 7 and Williams had 5. Not sure where the impression Smith is turnover prone is coming from.
You are pointing out one game. I have been Watching the Lynx all season and Smith and Williams make TOs at some very critical times. I still think Griner would be a big help to the Lynx and at least back up Smith.

No. I provided her season stats per the WNBA app, along with what happened today. Using one game as an example would have been pointless.

My response isn't about Griner. The statement implying Smith is turnover prone didn't make sense to me.

Game 2 was very exciting to watch. This has been a great series so far. Stewie with 7 steals is an insane stat.
I thought for sure the Liberty were going to implode but I'm glad they were wrong. Now the Lynx will get the home crowd.
They said is was standing room only in Brooklyn.

Major kudos to NY for holding their composure when the game looked to be unfolding the same as game one. Minnesota has to be feeling good about stealing one on the road and now having the home court advantage. The liberty should feel confident that they’ve proven they can beat Minnesota, and realistically should be up 2-0. This feels like a series that could go the distance.
Spot on. I had that same feeling that the Liberty were about to fold in the 4th qtr, when they picked up their game and closed out the win. Looking forward to the games in MN. They should be intense.

Please name me a player that has not made a turnover or two at some very critical moment in a game? One of the games greatest coaches (John Wooden) said it best decades ago "A basketball team that won’t risk mistakes will not outscore opponents. The same is true for any organization. Fouls, errors and mistakes are part of the competitive process in sports, business and elsewhere. Don’t live in fear of making a mistake." Courtney and Alanna are just like any player out on the court. They are trying to make plays. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. As for Griner. She would be a great addition to any team. How much of a help she would be here in Minnesota? Who knows.

The media does downplay certain players defensive abilities and hype up their offensive abilities. Much like Sabrina, Stewie is in that category. There are a few more players that fall into that category. The player that we will not name is a decent defender but right now folks will talk about her scoring and passing. I think Jordan Horston gets a little attention for her defense. Not much but she should. She is going to be one heck of a player. You can see her confidence growing each game. I can't see her turn it up a notch next year for Seattle. But yeah, the media does downplay the defensive ability of Stewie (The GOAT) a lot. Good looking out for mentioning Lauren Jackson as well! LJ was straight savage on both ends of the floor.

Your points are generally true, but during last night's game, both Ryan Ruocco and Rebecca Lobo frequently focused on the defensive plays made by Stewie as key factors why the Liberty was still leading.

The thing that they often overlook about Stewie, unlike other bigs she can go out to the 3 point line or halfcourt and defend.

I was not speaking about other players, just Williams and Smith. What bothers me most is when they make the turnovers. All turnovers don't always happen when a player is trying a play. A simple pass or standing holding the ball or dribbling off your foot when you should be passing the ball are not situations where a player is trying to make a play. That is my opinion.

Woohoo. Game 3 finally happening tonight. Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend has thrown me off and I felt like it's been more than a couple days off for both teams

This should be interesting now that Minnesota has the court advantage. Looking forward to seeing the crowd in Minnesota as it's been several years since the fans had a team in the championship finals.

Amazing game! Resilience by Liberty and Sabrina reflects that greatness......it's not how much, but when.

Certainly she and JJ lead a tremendous comeback effort in the closing minutes.

Well...so much for that. Lynx stole Game 1, Liberty return the favor by stealing Game 3. Lynx have finished poorly 2 games in a row now. Not the best game for Ionescu, but she hit the game winning bomb. Stewie showed out big time tonight.

Smith got hurt late in the first half. Returned briefly in the second half but clearly wasn't very mobile or feeling very good. Lynx went with a heavy dose of Hines-Allen, and the Lib sagged off her on D constantly. Why not give Juhasz some minutes, she can stretch the defense like Smith.

Will the Lib please start calling out screens so Fiebich doesn't get knocked into next week? Well, she already has been knocked into next week, but maybe they can prevent it from happening for what, the 4th or 5th time?

I read on the BY that Ionescu is weak defensively. Is she really weak on defense? Never paid much attention to her defense. Why does she start if she is weak defensively?
Oooof, (cheering for Minn) well we got that answer in the last 5 seconds tonight.

Many pick on Plum, Clark, Ionescu etc for lack of defense, but they bring a lot on offense and points are needed to win.

Fans and media like offense too. Both Ionescu and Clark made the all WNBA teams.

Speaking of offense. I find it hard to believe that Juhasz cannot contribute more on offense than Hines-Allen.
I’ve been thinking the same thing, although not specifically offense. With Smith hurting tonight, Dorka could have given them 10 or so good minutes. She’s taller and longer than Hines Allen, so a different look against Jonquel.

What a game! I think I'm still coming down from the excitement. I have to say this has been the best Finals I've seen.
That 3 point bomb by Sabrina was COLD! And Stewie, well there was no way she was going to lose that game.
Impressive showing by the Liberty.

And, why isn't Dorka playing for the Lynx??? Smith was not the same when she came back.
