2024 Coaching Carousel gets an early start…

I thought the same until I read that he signed an 8 year $80 something million contract extension last year. That firing ain't happening.
Norvell is a great coach. FSU was a national championship caliber team last year. He built that team quickly. They lost 46 players and replaced them. The chemistry isn’t there and the QB play has been awful. He’ll fix it. You don’t fire a coach that has his short history in Tallahassee. I’m in Tally right now and no one I’ve come across thinks he should be fired.

Idk being 1-9 at a school like FSU is wild

You guys are entirely ignoring that he had a crappy FSU poised for a national title within a couple of years of arriving. I’d hire Norvell in a second for most jobs in the eastern 2/3’s of the country.

Just to be clear, I’m not an FSU fan or cheerleader. I actually can’t stand them, but I’m very aware of them due to family being Uber fans. Not even moronic FSU fans are giving up on Norvell.

This actually may be the worst take in sports history

He earned a lot of good will with last year.
But this is such a dumpster fire that he easily gave it all back this year.

I mean 1-9. And not even in the SEC.
I kinda think at 0-2, the team quit.

Name me a really good coach, in any college sport, that had a disaster like this mid career.

Without Travis, Norvell is 19-25.
Travis sucked before Norvell got there. He didn’t cut it at Louisville and he wasn’t very good in Norvell’s first year but they got him up to speed. Travis credits Norvell with his development.

Assuming FSU's woes continue into next season, I wonder how many losses (maybe 4 tops?) the AD will tolerate before getting rid of Norvell. I don't mean to rain on billybud, but I find it so gratifying that the school that staunchly lobbied against us in the ACC is sucking worse than we did. At least we had excuses (bad coaches, poorly funded team, lowly rated players)...what are FSU's reasons?

Norvell went 1-9. Just goes to show you how volatile college football can be nowadays.

But I can’t figure out who needs to lose their job more! Norvell or Napier.

they are having a terrible year, period. They do not suck worse than we did. We reached an all time low.

I dunno mate, doing a pairwise comparison FSU is at our level of suck. Here's my case of 2021 UConn vs 2024 FSU though 10 games:

Offense: 133 pts FSU (13.3/game) vs. 153 pts UConn (15.3/game)
Yards Passing: 178.4/game FSU vs. 163.6/game UConn
Yards Rushing: 80.5/game FSU vs. 99.7/game UConn
Defense: 298 pts FSU (29.8/game) vs. 36.8 pts UConn (36.8/game)

2021 was the year we suffered 2 shutout blowouts to Fresno State and Purdue, so that skews the Offense and Defense values. My point being though that FSU has considerably more talent and resources than we did (hell, their 2nd stringers are likely higher rated than our starters), yet they are putting up number similar to us. Yes, strength of schedules were completely different, but, to go from from undefeated season and on the cusp of the playoffs to trash the following season...we never had a fall that bad (we went from 8-5 with the Fiesta Bowl to 5-7 the next year), and with half of FSU's talent we don't have the type of year we did in 2021. So again, considering the apparent quality FSU has compared to what we had, they are worse than us. Even if they win the next 2 games (but I really hope Florida crushes them), this will be their worst season since 1975.

By comparison, FSU's full season 14 game totals in '23 were:

Offense: 484 Points for
YPG Passing: 254.4
YPG Rushing: 150.2 YPG
Defense: 270 Points against-through 10 games in '24 they've already given up more points than all of last season!

Their class in shambles. Soon there won't be a reason to keep Norvell.
Norvell will get picked up really fast as an OC somewhere. He's a good coach, FSU is just one of those schools that is completely unreasonable with expectations (although this year really hurt his credibility).

He lost that team early on... Whoever gets him as OC (or even HC at a G5 level school) will get a gem...

There are actually 64,132,500 reasons.

Not everyone panics after every play, series, game or season.

I just want to point out that it's always the Boneyard that loves to defend coaches who go 1-9.

You really think if fsu made the idiotic decision to fire him, he’d not get 5 calls to be hc at a P4? OC?

Maybehe would. But they could still fire him. He’s 1-9. FSU doesn’t go 1-9.

In fact, that would be highly entertaining.
