Lanning has been a head coach for 2 seasons, so I doubt he will get the nod. I think the top choices are Kiffin and Swinney and I think Swinney, age 54, will be the choice. Born and raised in Alabama, played football at Alabama, coached at Alabama for 8 years, has played in 4 championship games, winning 2, and hasn't really used the portal like Saban. Plus, the ACC looks a little unstable right now and this is his path to the P2 and he would be leaving Clemson on good terms since he is "going home".

Until Swinney embraces the portal, he ain't gonna be winning much of anything. Major red flag.

Plus Tyler from Spartanburg aint got nothing on the Tuscaloosians.

I don't envy any coach who follows Saban.

On another note, let's hit up their soon to be in the portal players!! :D

Marcus Freeman isn’t going to be the head coach at Alabama. Unless they move the university to Illinois or someplace.

Why is Dabo? He will be lucky not to be canned by Clemson if he doesn’t win the ACC next year.

1) Bama alum
2) Won multiple NCs
3) Until his decision to ignore the transfer portal he was an incredibly successful coach.

On the other hand, James Franklin claim to fame is a stellar record against teams that stink.

The operative word is “was”. Clemson has been less dominant in the ACC IN the last few years, out of the CFP and now have to contend with a resurgent Florida State in the ACC. He may WANT to leave but he won’t get the Crimson Tide job.

see bullet #3

if he is willing to stop digging in his heels on that point, he could probably get back

The perfect guy might be Fickell- can’t imagine he’d leave Madison after 1 year, but

I think it's gonna be Sark.
He's already at a premier program in rich recruiting grounds and got them to the CFP. No reason to leave.

Why not go after Chris Peterson? Was success of Boise and Washington. Will do great at Alabama.
