Good time to review the typical cadence of commitment announcements.

1) the ASAP - within 20 mins of a bat signal <--what we all want, but not everything is about you!
2) the before school from 730 to 830 - probably written the night before
3) the late morning 11-noon- probably crafted and sent from study hall or lunch while at school.
4) the afternoon - short window from 230 to 330 right after school when the kid has been itchy all day to announce but too busy at school to get the proper time to do it.
5) the evening, 6 to 9pm - the perfect time to drop a well crafted announcement, probably with the parents standing over their shoulder.
6) the late evening, 9 to 11 - rare for much to happen in this window.
7) the overnight - forget it, on to the next day.

  • 2 community colleges (Holmes and Mississippi Gulf Coast)
  • 1 Previous Commitment (South Alabama)

  • 1 "Bobcat" looking mascot that looks Texas State the most but the only cat offer on 247 is Abiline Christian

Recruiting note John Paul Flores took an official to UVA this past weekend. If he commits there that would be three (Hollensteiner and Jones the other ones) of our targets. VA pulling it together in the portal after the coaching change.

Even if we lose out "competing with Virginia on the transfer pool" is so much farther ahead of where we were the last couple of years.

Well gang, we now have regular coverage for the recruiting world and that regular coverage is apparently bored today... And btw, it would be rather unusual if we are really pursuing Bauman considering on Max Klinkert of the current staff is following this kid.

It’s a good premise to center an article around. The follow thru was weak. No mention of other recruits or portal transfer not to mention absence of knowing pressure can come from anywhere (not just DL) and how they’re building to increase pressure across D.

Keep trying SI, just try harder.

Yes. The SI brand used to stand for excellence in journalism, sports or otherwise. Not so much any more.

I'm glad they are paying attention to us though. As Gioff said, get better.

It is almost like they are using newbie freelance writers for this platform who are looking to break into the sports journalism market. It is a nice new outlet to check out, but most of the info is not fresh and not exactly fully accurate. But the increased exposure is nice to have.

However, the UConn baseball by that writer Matt Chudoba was really a good insight. I opine that they are finding underemployed sports fanatics who want to get into the content business and giving them a platform. Paying them nothing or virtually nothing. If a writer or 2 does well. there will be money or a new venture somewhere. Tis the season. If you are young and have a passion for a sport, it might be worth throwing your enthusiasm into trying to do interviews or research.
