Since when is ABC an ESPN platform, isn't it the other way around where ESPN is an ABC platform?
What were the platforms for numbers 5,6 and 7?So, after two weeks, the lineup is:
1. SCar at Stanford (ABC) 727,000
2. Cal vs Notre Dame (NBC) 542,000 (St Louis)
3. NC State at UConn (FS1) 358,000
4. Texas at UConn ( FS1) 236,000
5. Indiana at Tennessee (210,000)
6. SCar at Maryland (193,000)
7. Tennessee at tOSU (100,000)
The numbers for Cal at Notre Dame are really impressive considering that Cal is/was unranked. It was even a neutral cite game. The power of the Notre Dame brand? The power of Big Three airway network? Did people in California tune in because it was on network TV as opposed to the PACN?
Fwiw, Stanford had a rare over capacity crowd at Maples. I hope they can keep fan excitement up! Their program deserves fan support.
Probably the SEC and ACC networksWhat were the platforms for numbers 5,6 and 7?
Big Ten Network was No. 7Probably the SEC and ACC networks
Big ten network for Tenn at tosuWhat were the platforms for numbers 5,6 and 7?
Neither is really particularly right. They have slightly different ownership as Hearst owns a portion of the ESPN unit, but not any of ABC. It was almost certainly completely the work of employees of ESPN to get that broadcast created. There has been a history of friction between the management groups of each unit as ESPN does not like having highly-viewed events moved away from it while ABC does not like how ESPN gets allocated some of the revenue from broadcasts like this. There is a whole field of accounting that tries to get units on board with whatever benefits the whole company the most, but the human element always gets in the way.Since when is ABC an ESPN platform, isn't it the other way around where ESPN is an ABC platform?
Maybe Polyphemus is a big fan?If you are counting eyeballs, got to double those numbers.

Yes. I expect UConn to dominate the TV eyeballs this year. Last year, SCar gave UConn some competition, but I expect it wont even be worth comparing this year because SCar has so many fewer big names on their schedule. So 3 out of the top seven are Husky games?
I notice that your last couple of updates do not include viewers for UCLA at SCar on 11/29 on the SEC network. I assume it was not top 150 for that day. Is that correct?12/1 UNC-Indiana BTN Not Top 150
12/1 Maryland-Notre Dame ESPN2 201,000
12/1 Georgia Tech-Michigan State BTN Not Top 150
12/1 North Carolina State-Iowa ESPN2 257,000
I don't think very many if any.
Its all streaming these days, and you can catch the top programs on ESPN+, BTN+, SECN+, ACCN+, B12/ESPN+, and etc.
I doubt most conference media contracts allow a lot of individual coverage. A few I am remotely aware of:
- Texas broadcasts their home games on Longhorn Network if they are not on a national broadcast.
- Oklahoma has had a TV package with what used to be Fox Sports Oklahoma, don't know if they still do with the current company
- New Mexico State has had packages on "Aggie-Vision" with some TV coverage on what used to be FSAZ, among other stations.
The thing is, as @Kaizen mentioned above, this is the preferred mode for many. Plus, in many cases (so far as I know) you don't have to watch it live.
Apart from anything else, UConn has a national interest and following (similar to (yuck) ND football) that merits the coverage.
Not really anymore. ABC was the majority owner (actually CapCity) of ESPN until Disney bought ABC in 1996. Since ESPN does much more with live sports, they’ve been taking over ABC broadcasts for a while. ABC is basically the non-live (taped) station for Disney.Since when is ABC an ESPN platform, isn't it the other way around where ESPN is an ABC platform?
Yes, I watched the Rutgers vs. BC game in the Big Ten / ACC Challenge on NESN; the ACC continues to have a limited presence on Regional Sports Networks (RSN) as they list them.I noticed that BallySports have started to broadcast ACC games that are streamed on ACCNX. Does that count as local?
ESPN does not pay for the SEC Network, ACC Network, or Longhorn Network to be rated nationally so they will not appear on this list at all unless ESPN does a special order. That is part of why I started listing out Not Top 150 this season so that people know which games just are not going to show up at all.I notice that your last couple of updates do not include viewers for UCLA at SCar on 11/29 on the SEC network. Years ago, it was the coverage on Regional stations (basically, the old Fox network, now largely Bally Sports) that caused us to go with DirecTV as so much Women's Basketball was on those stations that DirecTV carries. With time, it is more-so the NFL Sunday Ticket that has become important. And we have Sling to get the PAC network.
Thanks for putting these up. If I'm reading your estimates correctly, male viewers were higher in most categories. So much for the theory "men don't watch women's sports"12/8 Maryland-Purdue Big Ten Network Not Top 150
12/10 Minnesota-Iowa Big Ten Network Not Top 150
12/11 Louisville-Kentucky ESPN 247,000
12/11 UConn-Maryland ABC 470,000
12/11 Michigan State-Ohio State Big Ten Network Not Top 150
Percentage average viewership estimates for the Louisville-Kentucky game:

Yeah, very rare now. I will listen to the Golden Gophers games through other streaming services. Once in a while if I am in Northern Minnesota, I can tune in on one of the local radio stations.Out of curiosity does anybody have an idea of how many programs have all their games on at least local TV. It used to be pretty rare, but I imagine at least many of the top programs do that now.

It will be interesting to see how Fox's numbers shake out in 2023. They have Iowa vs Michigan in January from what I recall.
