2021 Coaching Carousel picking up riders…

Makes you wonder why Dave hasn’t pulled the trigger yet? Is he looking at an existing head coach or coordinator who won’t leave until the end of the season?
I would think info related to our search is being driven more by fact that he wants it quiet and operates in a state where there’s effectively no media snooping around. The TT search is littered with coordinators and head coaches. No coach should leave before season end, but they can interview and they can leave as soon as reg season ends.

Because Moorhead has already agreed to be our HC and they're waiting after the season to announce to keep distractions away from Oregon and their title hopes.

Only thing I can think of.

Maybe he has or is close to. At least by now he must know who the interested candidates are based on the resources the university is making available. Some existing head coaches might just want their exit to look a lot different than Randy Edsall's first go-around. A positive as far as I'm concerned.

I know the post was in jest but Moorhead would be a fool to come to an agreement with any school now. He will be one of the hottest names for HC jobs, he should wait to see what else opens.

I think he would be perfect for UCLA if Kelly gets the boot.

AD David Benedict says he wants to announce the nee guy by Dec 1. He isn't waiting on anyone with playoff potential or expects them to jump asap.

This is why it makes it nearly impossible for him to come here. He has P5 HC experience, and he is OC for a potential playoff team. Our timelines just do not seem to align if we want someone by 12/1. Unless he has some odd yearning, how can he agree to be our coach within the next couple of weeks not knowing what P5 opportunities will be there. It’s not like his fallback option of remaining OC where he is would be a bad option.

Moorhead isn’t the only hot coach out there and honestly, I don’t even think he’s in the top five hottest coach’s. Maybe he’s top 10-15. I don’t see how anyone here thinks we have NO shot at Moorhead. It’s mind blowing to be honest. From what I hear we have a shot and he’s willing to listen. Does that mean he will come here no, but it’s not a definite no like some of you claim. Tom Herman is not even on this list that’s another name we should be looking at hard. I’d take him over retread Golden any day.

Tim Elliot - Turned down Tenn and Vandy last year

Sonny Dykes - SMU paying up for a reason brought a five star recruit for the first time in SMUs history

Dan Lanning - has Georgia playing elite defense his two years there

Dave Clawson - WF is in the playoff conversations

Jamey Chadwell - 11-1 record last year and had them in the top 15 this year.

Brett Venebles - Denied Auburn last year and will always get interests every year

Bill O’Brien - the latest Saban successful rehab coach

Alex Grinch - has drew interest from Arizona and Illinois and will always be in the conversation

Phil Longo - produced some high power offenses
I'm missing something....what is this list?

Facts! Some people here really look at UConn small time. Small time vision and claim they’re being realistic… smh
With the way things were handled during our infant stages of FBS (when we had success, then blew it... thanks Admin) it's a little to shake off...until we prove otherwise and get back to going to bowl games

Make that meaningful bowl games and I will agree with you. By that I mean a bowl game at which UConn can at least break even. Btw, does UConn have to split the proceeds of any bowl game with the Big East despite their not being a FB conference?? The reason I ask is that stranger things have happened in this world and everything is negotiable.

with the exception of the playoff games, NY6, and maybe a couple other bowls, schools usually lose money on bowls.

-> The university owes Bell a buyout of 100-percent of his total remaining compensation for Year 3 and 75-percent of the $625,000 ($468,750) due in each of the next two seasons for a total of $937,500. <-

Gotta add him to the list of candidates at UConn. He fits the criteria...he either was a coach at UConn or played UConn this year ;)

Names look familiar from when UConn job first opened - another exercise in “connect the dots”;

-> So what names could get in the mix?

Arizona defensive coordinator Don Brown was UMass’ head coach from 2004 to ’08 and reached the 2006 FCS national title game. He also went 27-20 as Northeastern’s head coach from 2000 to ’03. The 66-year-old had spent all of his career in the Northeast before going to Michigan with Jim Harbaugh and now is in his first season at Arizona. His defenses have fallen off since his early years at Michigan, but he knows New England and has been in the mix for head coaching jobs there recently. Does he want to give it one more shot?

Minnesota co-defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak was the runner-up for the Buffalo job this past spring, and the 35-year-old was previously the head coach at Maine, reaching the FCS semifinals in 2018 and posting a 20-15 record in three seasons.

Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen was a four-year starting QB for UMass from 2005 to ’08, and he was Harasymiak’s offensive coordinator at Maine. The 35-year-old spent 2018 to ’20 on the Los Angeles Rams staff and has done an impressive job at UK this season. He can likely hold out for a better job, but could the pull of his alma mater get him in the picture?

Former Temple and Miami (Fla.) head coach Al Golden has rebuilt a small northeastern program before, taking Temple from 1-11 to 9-4, setting up future success for several coaches. He’s been in the NFL since 2016 and is currently the Cincinnati Bengals’ linebackers coach. Golden is also believed to be a candidate at UConn, which has more to offer.

Holy Cross head coach Bob Chesney has been a head coach in Massachusetts since 2013. He went 44-16 at Assumption College and is 22-15 at Holy Cross, including 7-2 this year. The Crusaders beat UConn earlier this season. Towson head coach Rob Ambrose coached UConn’s quarterbacks from 2004 to ’08. He’s 70-69 at Towson, including a pair of 7-5 records in 2018-19 and an FCS playoff appearance in 2018. Princeton head coach Bob Surace is 63-45 in 11 seasons, including 7-1 this year, but he’s been quite content with the Tigers.

Rutgers offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson and tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile have deep ties to New Jersey, one of the most fertile recruiting locations in the region. Gleeson played at Williams College in Massachusetts and is a former New Jersey high school coach. He spent 2013 to ’18 at Princeton and 2019 at Oklahoma State. Campanile was a New Jersey high school coach from 2000 to ’17 and has been at Rutgers since then. <-

I think Golden would be the perfect fit for UMass.

They could set up at Bobby V's in Windsor Locks, the blue side and the red side. Coaches can fly in and do their interviews over wings and beer.

If anybody needs a terrible OC, John Donovan was shown the door by Washington today. They've had a completely inept offense all season. Surprised it took this long.
