2020 US Open

Bingo LI, I’m impressed with Wolffs clubhead speed enabling him to get it out of the rough with some height and length. But still it shouldn’t be spinning and holding as it is out of that cabbage. They’re too green need them to get beige.
Maltbie mentioned on the broadcast that he really wants to dislike everything but just cant help but be impressed by what he is seeing.

An interesting video about the 1974 US Open at Winged Foot:

That is one tough track. I hope it bites today!

The Mickelson ad for Amstel Light is the highlight of the morning thus far. Of the 35 guys on the course right now, only two red numbers. Doesn't seem likely the course is going to give much back.

I feel for Harris English. There is no excuse for the USGA not having enough people there to find balls in the rough, even w/o spectators. That's ridiculous to have to go back to the tee with a penalty for simply hitting it in rough grass.

Good for English on holing out of bunker for 1st birdie of day on #2. Hope he shoots a low number for a top 5 finish. Dude is angry.

Well, there is the theory a pro should be able to hit a ball reasonably close enough to the playing area that the ball can be found within 3 min.

From my perspective the officials finding and marking errant tees are there as a function of keeping the round going for TV purposes. All us hackers have to suck it up and find our balls within the same 3 minute time frame.

Not for me, I like the guy. He's a little arrogant and pinkish, but his golf today was extraordinary under really tough conditions. I know he's not a fan favorite on the board, but he's my guy.
Agreed
All pro golfers have an edge - it comes from only having to blame themselves when losing - no teamates
Amazing how guys like Bryson get crap for having some faults in their personality but Tiger gets a pass when he acts like a complete

Bryson won going away but was only 26th in fairways hit....So I guess length does matter. Wonder if this will alter how other golfers approach things...will they try to maximize distance, even at the expense of accuracy?
