Tyree Saunders decommitted from USF. Interesting to me Edsall started following him on Twitter well after he committed to USF. Don’t think he would have done that unless he knew Saunders was very likely to be coming back on the market. Saunders junior tape is strong, real playmaker.

Saunders is a Jacksonville kid - home of Matt Drayton and the FL place Randy and Corey seem to put a lot of effort into.
Jacksonville is his FL turf.

>>Collin McCarthy, Jackson Memorial, DL, senior: Never heard of Collin McCarthy? You will. At a smidgen below 6-foot-6, attempting to pass in his direction is like throwing over a skyscraper. At 235 pounds -- up 30 from last season -- with an 80-inch wingspan, McCarthy will be able to out-leverage even the finest offensive linemen. Add in speed -- last year against Wall he blocked a punt and outran everyone for a TD that was called back -- and McCarthy has the potential to be one of New Jersey’s most-imposing defensive lineman in 2019. While he played predominately defensive end last year, opponents will need a GPS chip to keep track of him this fall. Jackson Memorial head coach Vin Mistretta said McCarthy, a UConn commit, will play every spot on the defensive line and create nightmarish mismatches. It will also make it more difficult for McCarthy to be double-teamed. Last season, McCarthy had 91 total tackles -- 46 for loss with 11 sacks. His goal for this season is to improve upon those totals.<<

While we’re @ it: Ready to Rise: 2019 Jackson Memorial Football Preview

>>...If McCarthy stood still in a park, pigeons would make him a permanent landing spot. This dude is chiseled like a granite statue but there’s nothing remotely stationary about his rate of activity on the gridiron. McCarthy finished the ‘18 season at 6-6, 205 pounds but checks in for his senior year at 6-7, 240 and with a commitment to UConn in the back pocket. Strong and imposing off the edge, it’s crazy to think but he is more than capable of exceding the impact he made a year ago when he counted a whopping 43 tackles for loss and a Shore Conference-leading 11 sacks among his 83 stops, earning First Team All-Shore for the production..

“He impresses me more and more everyday. UConn got a really good treasure,” said Jackson Memorial head coach Vin Mistretta. “He does everything right. If we blow a gap responsibility, he’s still taking up three gaps. He’s the cornerstone of the defense.”<<

Jalen Madison had a nice tape last year at Brunswick playing RB. Seems to be genuinely interested in UConn. Maybe we offer after we see some senior tape.

Robert Lewis Jr is a 5-11 175lb WR from Newton High School in Covington Georgia. Other offers Akron, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Troy, VaTech and WMU.

Highlights

UConn had originally offered Lewis back mid-May and followed it up w/ official offer in August. Big to get a kid w/ that offer list on campus.

Probably a long shot given the offers he’s received since UConn offered on 4/2, but this tweet was liked by Corey Edsall

According to Twitter looks like the staff has received a commitment? Anyone hearing anything?

I think the signs indicate its likely Robert Lewis JR, the WR/CB from Newton GA who visited this past weekend. However, we are still waiting for someone to step up and confirm.

Another guy worth revisiting is Darius Bush, WR/DB out of Jenkins HS in Savannah GA. I noticed he started following Bobby Downes and Robert Lewis in recent days. Perhaps he visited...but that is just pure speculation on my part.

We offered Bush back on 6/1. Found this interesting read about him below.

Darius Bush: “Kinetic Energy on Display”

One of the fasting rising stars on the recruiting circuit is 5-foot-11, 178-pound speedster Darius Bush. As a junior he led the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches. Bush actually caught 41% of all Jenkins passes completed during the 2018 season. He also carried the ball 20 times for 160 yards and a score. His breakout junior season garnered him First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Greater Savannah-Offense.

His first offer came on March, 20 from the Naval Academy, since that time his suitor list has skyrocketed to a whopping 16 offers. His offers include Akron, Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Connecticut, Georgia Southern, North Carolina-Charlotte, Southern Miss and UNLV. He is also receiving heavy interest from Troy, Wake Forest and West Virginia. Three schools he would like to hear more from are Florida, Georgia Teach and Purdue.

Six of those offers came immediately after his strong two-way performance at the Mercer Mega Camp held June, 1. Oh, yeah he also ran a 4.47, 4.53 and 4.43 in his three attempts at the 40-yard dash. It didn’t hurt either that he bested the competition at both receiver and cornerback.

“His character speaks for itself; I even got a call from a coach at the Mercer Camp saying how well he acted and handled himself whether he won or lost a rep,” Cameron said. “He’s a guy that if he shows up with high energy at practice then the whole team will have a great practice that day. He is simply are sparkplug.”

Still no word on any commitment. False alarm? or waiting until after until a different date to make it official?

I’d venture to say it wasn’t a false alarm - someone committed to the coaches and isn’t ready to make it public yet.
