2020 Recruiting Thread

UConn stands little to no chance against these teams in recruiting when they aren’t on a level playing field with the schools coming in and getting these guys.
Have to do it. Orlovsky was a game changer. Then you get to kids like Byron Jones and Scott Lutrus.

I think where UConn has no chance is getting out of state kids with multiple p5 offers and yet people expect that.

Dan Orlovsky to Michigan State

I agree that this has been the struggle throughout our FBS years. Several at Penn State; Purdue has had a few as has Iowa; Rutgers Schiano's will be tougher going forward; Don Brown cherry picking New England; we've lost a kid to Northwestern. Then there is Syracuse & BC which ... the former emerged strongly in the last 2 years.

Until we get 30,000 regularly ... w that solid schedule getting better & better; this is a climb. Prep Schools - furthermore - are far more productive than a decade ago. It really is NH & MA ... and CT. And greater NYC

When was Dan Orlovsky in high school? What year is it now?

I have never brought academics up once. Not sure why your post is semi attacking me.

Okay, I'll retract the usual BY response to being on a level playing field w/ P5 schools.

I'll just leave it as " Knock it off - is he wrong?"

He is wrong.

How am I wrong? I would love it if every one of those kids over the past few years stayed home, but when you have legit P5 schools like Penn State and Michigan coming in and offering groups of players, do you really expect a kid to pick UConn over those offers? Until UConn is consistently winning games again, they stand little to no chance for the top players in the state that real programs are after. And this doesn't even factor in the kids who simply want to leave home and experience something different.

Everyone? No. Just land one to start turning the tide.

Not for nothing but Crownover’s younger brother is a beast.

Bush is a DB/WR that we have been pursuing ...not clear to me which way he is leaning...

It's CLEAR we want him to sign with us... But, if I were a betting man, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the B1G (I'm voting Minnesota).. but, of course, I hope we get a surprise additional recruit in him... We still have a boatload of DBs on our squad.. He seems like a CB prospect, where we have a surplus of younger kids... We truly need another Safety at this moment...

Jhaylin Embry just flipped to BGSU. Their WR coach? Erik Campbell.

This was the kid I was most worried about losing. I thought he was our best recruit...just pure speed. Now the Omarion Dollison offer makes a bit more sense given our roster needs.

The Luke Haggard offer also has me thinking....

Weird. BG's head coach Loeffler's passing offenses have been extremely anemic over the years. Here is how his passing offenses ranked since 2011:

2011 Temple: 116
2012 Auburn: 116
2013 VT: 63
2014 VT: 77
2015 VT: 64
2016 BC: 120
2017 BC: 114
2018 BC: 81
2019 Bowling Green: 120

Just goes to show recruiting is fluid and kids will believe recruiting pitches.

Yep...the real reason might be because his HS teammate WR Javonte Kinsey, who we also recruited and visited us, is headed there.

Maybe he’s going to Bowling Green too (held UConn offer)...

Or maybe we can bring him here???? We need better QB play than what we saw last year... I didn't see anything this past year that showed me that have our guy for the next several years... One series we see light at the end of the tunnel, then the next 3 series, garbage... Gotta get somebody in that position to LEAD us... A guy the team rallies around as well.

The bright side is, at least people can't complain he has no other FBS offers. Lol.
