when you're a freshman and you often outscore your senior McDonalds All American team mate you must be pretty good....Long Island Lutheran's next big star:

Paris Clark rated 25th by Blue Star at the moment. Can't find any connection to UConn yet.

UConn had some initial interest in LUHI's Celeste Taylor and I believe Clark may eventually be as good or better............

In another State Tourney game in Washington, Garfield and Dalayah Daniels cruised to a 55-21 win to advance to the semi-finals. Next up Mt. Spokane (who coincidentally beat Cashmere, fairly unusual for a 3A team to play a 1A team).

17 points for Daniels.

Mulkey was there watching.

Baylor's entire staff watched Van Lith yesterday (2/28). An Oregon assistant coach was there too.

Van Lith's 29 points and 10 rebounds were accumulated in 23 minutes.

That's gotta be unusual isn't it? The Big 12 is such a cake walk that the entire staff can take a long field trip midweek?

That's a new one, recruiting hard has to be characterized as only being possible because of the league you play in. How long do you think they stayed there? They probably flew in for the game and flew out after.

Helps to fly on a private jet.

Not the first time Baylor sent 4 to Cashmere either.

If they went to Cashmere this time, wasn't much happening. Lower classes have State Tourney in Yakima.

I just got home from watching SJC dismantle Maret 76-45. The only reasons it was this close were (1) SJC played the 3rd string for the 4th quarter and (2) the mercy rule was involved (when one team leads by 30+ in the second half, the clock runs nonstop).

By my very unofficial tally (I didn't take notes), Azzi had about 30 points in 18 minutes, scoring on a variety of layups, short jumpers, and threes. She's smart, smooth, strong, and speedy. On a couple of fast breaks, she showed a gear I had not seen before. I also saw her up close and noticed nice muscular development in her back, shoulders, and arms. She's 15 or so and plays like a 20-year-old.

La Salle beat Cashmere for the 2nd time this year, 41-35. Cashmere can still finish 3rd in State.

Looks like Garfield lost today as well. Not a good day for recruits from Washington y'all are following.

I didn't know that.
It's a classic Geno story. I can't find it on the web, so I'll try to tell it.

G: So what jersey number do you want to wear?

D: #0

G: That's stupid! No one wears zero.

D: Ok, then #1.

G: That's dumb. This is a team game; you don't want to stand out as an individual. Pick another number.

D (feeling frustrated): Ok, then. What number do YOU think I should wear?

G: #3

D (puzzled): Why #3?

G: Because Babe Ruth wore #3, and if you do what I say, you can be the Babe Ruth of Basketball.

End of conversation.
