James Madison Memorial star Leilani Kapinus makes late push up espnW HoopGurlz recruiting class rankings

Levy (AAU Coach) and Flowers (HS Coach) see Kapinus as a wing in college. But Kapinus prefers point guard because she likes to distribute the ball to her teammates.

Defense seems to come naturally to her, but her offense is developing quickly.

"She was the heart and soul of our team this year," Levy said. "She is a freakish rebounder, just rips them down. She plays wing for us, but when she gets a rebound, she goes. That's where she thrives."

she clearly in the Mikayla Coombs camp of full court aggressiveness and ball hawking.................as a matter of fact her videos highlight her defense/shot blocking just about as much as her offense................haven't seen a whole lot of outside shooting in her videos so I have to assume she doesn't favor the that part of her game.............

Sophomore mixtape for Azzi Fudd:

You know you are good when your Sophomore mixtape drops 1/2 way through your Sophomore season.
Here is a crazy though-Fudd wins the 2019 Naismith award.

Sophomore mixtape for Azzi Fudd:

There are going to be some really, really good matchups between St. John’s and Bishop McNamara.

McNamara has top-20 NC State signee Jakia Brown-Turner, the grossly underrated Mississippi State signee Aliyah Matharu, and top-20 2020 6-2 W Madison Scott.

OK......any particular reason she couldn't play point guard in college or is her skill set just better suited at another position?.....nothing better then big guards at both ends of the floor..
Although Im sure some short sighted coach would use her as a PG, her skill set is MUCH better suited for the wing position. Of course if we are talking short sighted coach, then she is not playing at UCONN. See @DaBball post.

January 22 at McNamara. I hope to be there.

I think Candace Parker won 2 Naismith Awards in high school. Azzi could win at least that many.

Taylor Bigby scored 8 points in front of the UConn staff Thursday. Doubt she was needed much in the 60-pt victory.

Hailey Van Lith scored 31 points in a Cashmere rout.

Saylor Poffenbarger totaled 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocks.

Jillian Hollingshead had 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Wow, Cashmere has lost twice this year. They didn't lose a single regular season game the previous 2 seasons IIRC. I looked it up, Mt. Spokane that they lost to earlier is a bigger school but it looks like La Salle is around the same level.

If Hailey doesn't like losing, I can recommend a good coach and program, namely, "the team that never loses."

Sounds like Daniels isn't UConn good. You should leave her to a West Coast team.

Did Daniels get a lot of rebounds? Uconn has plenty of shooters but can always use another strong rebounder and shot blocker.

With Lyday, Aujae Yoakum and Imani Harris leading the charge defensively, Benson held 6-foot-4 forward Dalayah Daniels to two points on 1-of-6 shooting. Daniels, a five-star recruit for the class of 2020, did have 10 rebounds and four blocks but was unable to get going offensively.

“We made sure we crowded her and we wanted her to feel our presence physically,” Knox said. “We tried to make sure it wasn’t easy for her. And she, like Tayler, neither one of them really got into a rhythm. I think the complementary pieces we had, at the end of the day, were better than their complementary pieces.”

After stopping Daniels, next Benson gets to face Cameron Brink and Southridge. It's a tournament going on in Portland. Benson and Southridge met in the 6A (highest classification I think) State Championship game in Oregon last year.
