Clearly shows an extra gear in the highlights. Claims 4.47 speed.

Oh the old days, when we had Darius Butler with the 4.29 speed and the Robbie Frey's of the world. Will we ever be able to get those type recruits again now that social media blasts everything about every player all over the world?

That is indeed the challenge. Randy excelled in the old days when kids could stay hidden. Very few "hidden" kids anymore. Rather than relying on just "hidden" kids, our recruiting strategy is more likely to also bet on and seek out late bloomers. Late bloomers is part science and part luck. I hope when we get to February we can look back and say Randy's strategy to wait for kids with surprise senior seasons (and impressive PG years) was the right call. We have to remember, everyone else filling up their class prior to this September was doing so based on Junior tape and summer camps alone.

You can’t win if you don’t play...

... I wouldn’t buy a jersey w/ his name yet though. Impressive offer list.
Finally we are going after guys that will make this team better. I like that now Edsall needs to get aggressive with trying to get these type of players in.

?? Have you not seen the offers that have gone out previously - we lose kids to some pretty high end schools. Look @ the schools in the last two recruiting cycles we lost offered kids to. We aim pretty high.

Look at Medic's scholarship offer tracker. I think I count 57 of 67 commitments to P5 programs. So just 10 kids choose a G5 or lesser program vs their UConn offer.

I saw all of the kids on the tracker I’m saying we are finally being aggressive in recruiting to get kids that will help

Did we lose a recruit? Rivals doesn't have Clecius on its list any more
Rivals is reporting that he is no longer coming to UConn. They are suggesting it may have something to do with qualifying, but the exact reasons are unclear.

Yeah, the blurb is on the premium board... I remember reading when he first committed to UConn that it also happened to him when he tried to transfer and be admitted to a high school in Ohio.

I guess we wait till Early Signing Day comes and and goes (or he commits somewhere else).

One way to make a big splash would be for Edsall to reel in what look to be impact players in:

Niadre Zouzoua (DE/OLB) from Brockton MA attending Monroe CC, Rochester, NY (has a Minnesota and Nebraska offer)
Ahmarean Brown (WR) - Jefferson High, Tampa Florida (has numerous D1 offers, was a Maryland commit)

On twitter the staff has gone all in with both players with connections. Feels like we might be running second to UCF for Brown's attention and second to Minnesota for Zouzoua. Our angle? Messiah Turner has a HS connection with Brown while Zouzoua is a New Rochelle NY kid. Obviously no program can offer the nearly assured early playing time that UConn can offer. Brown would give us a legit replacement to Buss's speed/separation skills while Zouzoua gives the DE position a speed/reach boost.

FWIW - Mike Z, David Harris and Corey Edsall seem to be following more JUCOs than in prior recruiting cycles, particularly for DE/DL/OLB. Haven't noticed many ILBs yet, but I could I missed it.

Have to think they are happy with Kevon Jones and Eli Harris. Might be why they aren’t looking JUCO for ILB.

Glad to see they are involved with more JUCO’s though. This team desperately needs a talent infusion. Need some speed on the edges.

Love the reach out by Lamp. I'll say this, Lamp has a decent OL tape. I'd give him a scholarship after I land the big three OL man I want first: Haigler (C/OG), Fritzche (OT) and Lundt (OT). Lets see where UConn is with OL scholarships come end of January.
