2019 FIBA Americup

Starts September 22 in Puerto Rico. Unlike in previous years and despite already qualifying for the 2020 Olympics, Team USA will be participating in the Americup.

With the first game 10 days away and with the WNBA playoffs underway hopefully we'll hear soon about the start of a training camp.

Team Canada has begun its training camp with So Carolina's Amihere and 2020 recruit Aaliyah Edwards invited. Kia Nurse is there as well.

If the Sky lose in LV on Sunday I believe Lou will go to the Team USA training camp. If the Sky win I think the semis will cover most of camp and part of the tourney.

- Former Oregon State Center Ruth Hamblin, who is playing in Russia;
- Former Iowa State Guard Bridget Carleton, who finished with the Lynx and is joining the migration down under this fall by playing with the Townsville Fire;
- Michigan State's Shayne Colley; and,
- Domer and Indiana Fever forward Natalie Achonwa, who has played for Canada several times (and takes great pride in doing so).

JMO but I've just got a feeling it might not take extensive funneling.

No official announcement but neither Nurse nor Achonwa are on the Canada roster of 12 at the FIBA site. They probably need a break and will be ready for the more important prequalifying tournaments later this year and early 2020. Amihere is also not on the roster.
