Another big game for UConn commit Alec Bloom

UConn commit Alec Bloom caught nine passes (eight in the first half) for 138 yards and a touchdown to lead his Ligonier Valley team to a 42-7 win over United last night.

The 6-foot-7 Bloom has 13 catches for 206 yards in the first two games of the season.

Justin Noye finished with 54 yards on 14 carries and was 6 of 11 as Rochester (N.Y.) East opened the season with a 9-6 loss to Hilton.

>>Former UConn signee Rennick Bryan is no longer considering a return to UConn.<<

>>Bryan played at Dean during the 2012 season but did not return to Dean. Bryan said he is currently enrolled at Gateway Community College and taking the classes so he can get the 25 credits needed to enroll at a four-year school. Bryan said he is considering going to either New Haven or Southern Connecticut State. When I asked him if that means UConn is no longer in the picture he said "that's a done deal."<<

I guess they want 4-year players rather than 2-year players. Or better academic players. I wonder if this is Warde's influence?

... or just a player that commits even a little bit towards academics in exchange for a scholarship?

Shame - wasted talent.

Back from April - had UConn as well as BC offer (as well as Mich State and Cuse)
Got it thx.. missed it earlier.

BC is pressing him hard for an answer.

From a BC site: >>Everett athlete Lubern Figaro has visited Boston College twice in just about the last week and the Eagles are pushing for a commitment. When asked whether Steve Addazio and his staff are pushing hard for him to make a decision, Figaro simply responded, "Yeah." "I'm just waiting it out before I make my commitment," Figaro added. "I have a very high interest [in Boston College]. I'm just making sure there aren't any other schools that come in."<<

Wouldn't get your hopes up on Figaro....

You can have him... Proverbial red flag: "I'm just making sure there aren't any other schools that come in." ;)

Haha yea never like to see that but to me I'd rather the kid wait then commit and say that. He's at least doing things the right way.

Verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin #Badgers #blessed #D1Bound

Kid seemed to want the B1G for a while if you read the articles on him. Good, for him on going where he wanted.

Well, BCeagles24 was right that we shouldn't get our hopes up over him.

Any sources on that? I really liked what Noye and Bloom specifically brought to the table....Is it twitter statements or have the openly decommitted to the media?

ToS is doing a good job reaching out to kids - committed and to whom we made offers.

I'm thinking that Noyes and Bloom are battling for the same reinstated scholarships to PSU.

>>UConn has tough task ahead
Connecticut fired coach Paul Pasqualoni Monday, just two days after the Huskies lost 41-12 at Buffalo. Pasqualoni was never able to make UConn relevant in the Big East and the Huskies are 0-4 this season heading into American Athletic Conference play. The Huskies don’t have a large in-state recruiting base to work with, and the elite prospects often end up at higher profile schools. That alone makes it difficult to turn the program into a national power, and we’re likely never to see UConn playing Oklahoma in a major bowl again. But there is enough talent in the northeast -- supplemented with hitting talent pockets in the southeast and good coaching -- for the Huskies to at least contend for championships in the American. The school has invested too many resources to struggle like it has.<<

Scout just posted a write up about Jamar Summers. Looks like he just visited Syracuse.

Justin Noye, UConn commit, reviewing his options; Rutgers a school of interest
http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/i...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

>>"I didn't de-commit, I just started talking to more colleges, now," said Noye. The coaching situation at UConn has put a damper on his commitment, according to Noye, causing him to take the steps to ensure he originally made the proper decision."The situation didn't really turn me off but stuff was going bad over there, so I just want to make the best decision for me and my four years," Noye said. "It's my future so I don't want to go to a school and realize I made the wrong choice."

>>Noye originally held offers from Rutgers, Buffalo, Old Dominion, UMass, Florida Atlantic and Albany, in addition to UConn. And he is talking to most of those schools as well as Penn State who he says has been showing interest as of late.<<

Noye tweeted this yesterday
"Goodmorning World.... Get ready for a change... That's all I'm saying #FieldDreams"
Don't know if that's regarding UConn or not
It was also right after he retweeted 2 tweets about PP being fired
