I’ve lived in suburban CT, KC, CA Bay Area and now Massachusetts. I find them all very different, except suburban Boston and Hartford are somewhat similar.

If you were say, a conservative, religious, Baptist from Arkansas...you really think moving to progressive, secular/Catholic/Jewish Connecticut presents a similar environment?

I agree. I moved a lot as a kid and in the military - local cultures are very different.

I know plenty of folks who have moved because onebor the other wanted to live in Xyz or didn’t want to live there. Good friend is a native Bostonian (East Boston) but now hangs his hat in Kansas because that’s where his wife is from. They met in college and originally settled in Boston but she was homesick. He moved there in 1980 but forever talks about moving back someday.

As for Mrs L We have a mutual acquaintance who told me she really hated the northeast.

Ive lived in CT, Northern Cali, and now Dallas. Sure, it is true most middle class families living on an acre of land will be the "same" no matter what city you're in. But, that is super broad and can pretty much be said about the entire population of the world. There are big differences between all the places I've lived. CT is fast paced, people generally mind their own business and only worry about themselves. California is super laid back and generally all around a happy place to be with happy people. Dallas is very friendly and conservative.

The guy moved from a very affordable state to one of the most expensive places to live in the world and did this while cutting his pay in half. I'm not surprised to see him take a job paying more money in state with no income tax. Don't know if this is the reason he left but I'm sure it was a contributing factor.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see a huge difference between Westchester County, NY, DuPage County, IL, and Collin County, TX.

There are some differences. Lots of Italian restaurants and Catholics in NY. Lots of Mexican restaurants and Protestants in TX. But everyone wants a nice house, in a good neighborhood, with good schools and a shopping mall nearby.

DuPage County, now you've got me involved. For the record I can't relate to the people on the next block. I will say it's very pale around here.

I agree with you on that. I would personally prefer a current collegiate guy too. I'm just trying to consider where Edsall's head is at.

The thing I don't like about Prince is just that he's been away from the college game for a long time. Obviously cool that he did well at BSU, but CFB changes so fast and I just don't like having someone who's been away for that long

When your OC is known for recruiting you got the wrong guy. He is currently co-OC at Alabama. Did you see him last night? I didn't. I did see the actual OC Brian Daboll a lot last night because he was calling all the plays. If UConn wants to hire him as co-OC recruiting coordinator fine but not as the guy who puts the offense in and calls the plays.

Now if you want to compare the coast of Maine with the oil fields of West Texas, then you have culture shock.

I admittedly have spent very little time in Maine, but while I've been there I've seen a good number of clientele who would have fit in well in Kentucky/WVA. My parents love it there, visit 5-10 weekends per year. But we're from rural CT and now live in metro Boston, so they are happy with "quiet".
