No one hurt us today. You have to think the freshmen only improve from here on. They got baptized today. Nice to see Ball improve his play in 2nd half.
Jut worried that both the 2 freshmen Stewart and Ross don't really look for their shot. Stewart can definitely create offense but seems hesitant. We need one of the these two to step for us even if we get Castle back.

Newton may be the most underrated and under-appreciated player in the country. Consistently makes the smart or clutch plays.

Seeing him in a different light after that game; it’s like when you wake up one morning and all of a sudden see that girl you’ve just been friendly with as someone you might like as more than a friend for the first time.

Not that I didn’t like and appreciate him before of course, but now I’m seeing just how good and how important to this team he is. We’re beyond lucky he came back.
Tristan Newton is Monique from Better off Dead.

Ball and Diarra combined for 11/6/7.
That is what is needed while Castle is out.

Spencer is a joy to watch. He makes it look effortlessly and lets the game come to him and knows when to shoot. He is a perfect team player.
Sorry to say it but Ball is going to continue to eat up Diarra’s minutes. He didn’t play well today, was out of control and took a couple wild shots. His defense also wasn’t as good as it was last year.

Good minutes from Johnson. Digging Spencer’s play. Solo didn‘t make any big mistakes and looked comfortable out there. That’s impressive for a frosh in MSG, this early. Decent games from Clingan and Karaban. Tristen is the bawls. Let’s see TX tomorrow night. Jay Williams never shuts tf up.

Karaban needs to be more aggressive putting it on the floor. Needs to be better on defense. Reneau was on fire, but he let him get to his scoring spot too easily probably 3 or 4 too many times.
The good thing is Karaban always learns from his mistakes. He won't let that happen again against another good 4 who is bigger than he is.

This is true, but that steal that led to the stew pass and 1, knocked out the only offense IU had and snuffed out their flame.

5 thoughts:

-backcourt is elite talent and poise. Both important
-Samson held his own inside against a team that lives in the paint.
-AK did too .
-Solo grew up fast today.
-we can play beautiful basketball and win a street fight.

This was a good warm up for the phog.

Great performance overall. Surprisingly got outnumbered by IU Fans, was at the game and was disappointed that there looked to be more red than blue. On to tomorrow boys

This was Solos best game by far, which is a great sign. The fact he shows no fear in taking shots, cutting aggressively, and handling In pressure is proof that there’s something there. Hopefully by seasons end he settles in, and some of those open shots start falling.

Indiana represented well but definitely a lot more uconn fans. It’s hard to say ratio because indiana fans were obvious with their red clothing. Uconn fans blend in with gray and blue. MSG is 75% empty for the 2nd game.
Announcers were claiming otherwise.
