Just saw that Tarris Reed Jr is taking an official this weekend. Sophomore 6-10 forward averaged 9pts 7 rebs. Haven't poked through the rest of his numbers.
That was near flawless execution of an elite defensive game plan leading to total destruction. I could tell Edey was gassed with a few minutes to go in the 1st half and I knew it was over. They are so relentless and grind teams down to the point where they just give up. This game was a perfect...
That was a great defensive performance! I keep seeing the sports media folks talking about UConn's offense but not as much about how they dominate on defense in these games. Stop after stop after stop leading to baskets on the other end and next thing you know they are up by 20.
I disagree with the OP other than this. I prefer when the CB press isn't talking about us as much as favorites. However at some point if you are making a run the team is going to get noticed and hyped. Last year it took them a few games in to start really pushing the idea it seemed. All you can...
I would guess the coaches know what we need based on their conversations with our current roster but I would think we need:
Legit experienced center who fits the system and can defend.
Combogurad/wing shooter who can pass, defend and shoots near or at 40% from 3.
Veteran point guard with size...
I like that they are going to Clingan hard early. It seems like when they feed him early he has better games and stays out of foul trouble. They had NU torched. The second half was just mop up.
Amazing job finishing an amazing Big East season. Clingan was awesome. Another nice showing by Stewie who is gaining confidence at the right time. I have no idea what was going on in the first half, by either team, but second half they killed it. Really looking forward to next week and the...
St John's should absolutely be in. Recency bias maybe on my part. Seton Hall with the 66 net woof. They seem like a tournament team but how many teams have gotten in with a 60+ net? I know net is not the only consideration but I'd guess they're in trouble. Providence? I have no idea. I can't...
This is pretty sad. I'm having 2nd hand cringe here.
Scheyer's going to have an embarrassment of riches on his roster next year and a probable 3 seed next week. They're top 10 in Kenpom. We are going to find out if he can coach.
PC was cooked with about 7 minutes left. You could see they were done. I'm not sure if Hurley turned down the heat or the players just started going easy. You could even see the UConn players weren't trying to kill them at that point. They were still running the offense but without a lot of...
They're already doing it or trying to do it. Blowing up the screening action and limiting Karaban and Spencer are keys. The coaches know it. Most of them don't have the personnel to teach it to or to run it.
I'm always curious why people don't want their team to play in the NIT if it is an option. If you are going to return a good portion of your roster next year it seems to me playing in a single elimination tournament with likely fairly evenly matched teams would be good experience for your team...
Great win! Killed another meaningless stat I was sick of hearing about.
They should stop the slowdown offense with so much time on the clock. Their regular offense is very deliberate already and leads to good looks at the basket. Just run your stuff.
Cam's T took the wind out of their sails...
Just saw Houston Mallette of Pepperdine is entering the portal. 6-5 185lb junior guard. This years stats 14pts, 3 rbs, 2 assists on 41.5% from 3. He was 66-159. For comparison sake Cam is 76-169 and Karaban 60-157. Don't know much about his game other than this though.
I like how Pitino is "discovering" the changes in college basketball as if they just happened and he climbed out of a cave this morning after breakfast.
What is the one team you would like UConn to play in the NCAA tournament and conversely what is the one team you would just as soon avoid?
The one team I would like to see UConn play in the tournament is Duke. A shot to smoke Duke in like the Elite 8 would be awesome.
I wouldn't mind a...
It looked to me like Creighton did to UConn what Kansas did but to greater effect. They extended the D on Spencer and Karaban and basically faceguarded them. All while sagging off Castle (he was out for Kansas though so Hass) and extending on Newton and making them try to beat you. Push Kalk...
When I saw this on twitter I thought it was such a great way to own the loss, have some humor about it, and move on. The players came back to campus and did community things and moved on. Good on all of them.
I like it. The team is likely to be young next year, and probably the following year. He needs to stack incoming classes with talent to reload. If neither Jackson or Newton come back though he will need to find a couple of experienced guys to come in if he wants to have a solid season. You can...
