Well he did that in the Big 10 so there’s a good chance he can damn near replicate that in the Big East. Much harder for a guy like Timberlake who played in the CAA to do that in the B12.

Cam is also a 90% FT shooter. That will be huge in crunch time. He is a better fit than Timberlake would have been. We lucked out by missing on him earlier lol
Just to add some more context here as to a better fit/player...

Cam / Timberlake stats:
Career 3pt %: 40.5% / 37.9%
Career FT %: 86.6% / 79.2%
Career Reb: 4.1 / 3.9
Career Ast: 3.1 / 1.6
Career Stl: 1.6 / 0.8
2022 OBPM: 5.2 / 2.0
2022 DBPM: 5.2 / -0.5

Cam has better stats across the board, AND managed to play at that level in the Big 10.

Oh, and Kansas paid $250k for the worse version of that lmao

Excellent research and valid points.. Something not being talked about yet with Cam on board.. Once he gets to know his teammates and assimilated into the Program.. I could see him becoming a leader on the team since he's an older guy that's been around the block..

I love that the other big schools are all saying they expected it to be UConn because of NIL. We're now the NIL school, lolz.

All that big Hartford money!

It's definitely the case we can outbid UCLA for guys. No question.

We're bring in five top freshmen this year. By the time we found out about our NBA losses, the portal was really the only option to bring in top players. I don't think it's an attitude, you need both.
I understand and agree, this addition of Cam was needed and perfect, my comment was in response to the though that we need to add another high level experienced player for our last scholly. I don't agree with that as it would be a detriment to keeping and developing our highly touted freshmen (and Roumoglou). Our last scholly should be a good practice player, but not one with realistic expectations to play.

Singare and Johnson could emerge as a two headed monster off the bench
Both look so athletic and fast, clingan really moves great, they might move even better
Hopefully but we have no idea what Singare and Johnson will bring. I have more faith in Singare being a contributor

Timberlake had more BY posts in his thread though. Don't cherry pick

Apostolos is going to surprise everyone and be in the mix..he has talent and will prove it
He’s the secret in all of this. We need at least practice footage.

I’m stoked to think a much longer video for buzzer beater with Tristen, Karaban, and Spencer for next season! That is not counting Clingan, Castle, Ball and Stewart!

Is this his COVID year or could we have him for 2 seasons. I see he played 5 games in 20-21 was that a redshirt season?

Completely unbiased opinion but I don't see how this team isn't preseason #1 and the betting favorite to win the title. Starting 5 is absolutely gigantic and has 3 proven outside shooters with Newton, Spencer, and Karaban. Oh and then the other 2 guys are projected lottery picks.

And then a bench full of top 75 recruits + a 7' unicorn.

This team is going to be insane
We may very well be preseason #1 and the betting favorite if only because the defending champ tends to get the benefit of the doubt to the point of usually being overrated.

That said, we should easily be in the top 10 and in the conversation for a #1-2 seed all year.

Castle is right around AJ's height and Cam only and an inch smaller than Hawkins. Pretty close in height all around. I even seen Castle listed at 6'7" which is taller than AJ so would balance out the 1 inch difference with Hawkins.
And Clingan is 5 inches taller than Sanogo

15. Cam Spencer, 6-4, SG, Sr., Rutgers Scarlet Knights

A very late addition to the portal, Spencer spent one season at Rutgers, averaging 13.2 points and shooting 43.4% from 3. Started his career at Loyola Maryland, putting up 18.9 PPG in 2021-22.

51. Nicolas Timberlake, 6-4, SG, Sr., Towson Tigers
Committed to Kansas
One of the best 3-point shooters in the portal, Timberlake shot better than 41% from beyond the arc over his past two seasons at Towson. Averaged 17.7 points this past season. Two-time all-league pick.

Per ESPN - KARMA - sorry if already posted - posts are coming in faster than I can put this in LO.
Subtle but important difference is that Spencer has already demonstrated he can perform against P6 competition. With Timberlake you're taking a leap of faith.

The passing and defense is a big difference. Spencer definitely looks like a more well-rounded player and therefore a better fit for our lineup.

Impressive addition. We are a force to be reckoned with with this full roster. As I have said in other threads, I'd love to have 1 more wide body type for the front court. Doesn't have to be good enough to compete for minutes, just serviceable to spell defensively against power players, or take spot minutes in a foul plagued game. A 2024 reclass that expects little time would be great.

AND, we still have Gavin Griffiths on our Rutgers farm team to get some experience before he sees the light and comes home. I believe he will prove to be a worthy player.

An Eric Cobb type, if you will.

Lurking on the Miami board they are pissed. Their calling Hurley a hypocrite, since he supposedly bragged about not building a team on NIL players. Hurley has added pieces but hasn’t built a team of those guys.

This is great news; for at least the past year, the coaching staff has done a phenomenal job picking up recruits and transfers. But, being somewhat pessimistic, I just pray that everyone stays healthy throughout the season.
