Women’s basketball recruiting update

Word has it that UConn target Brianna Turner is currently leaning heavily towards Baylor. The ESPN HoopGurlz #3 ranked player in the class of 2014, Turner is from Texas and the Baylor campus is only about 200 miles from home. Things could change, but for now it doesn’t look good that Turner will be a Husky.

Meanwhile, the outlook is much brighter for Sierra Calhoun. Multiple sources have Calhoun as a strong lean for the Huskies. Calhoun is 6’0 (some sources say 6’1″) junior wing from New York City. It helps that Calhoun attends Christ the King, alma mater to both Sue Bird and Tina Charles, whose development into one of the best centers in the world has impressed New York City area coaches. Incidentally, Calhoun’s brother Omar has emerged as a rising star for the UConn men’s team.
