He’d more than likely help us out more then any other wing we have rn... but I could do without seeing Heron in Storrs

Something is definitely fishy here. He could arguably be the best player on a potential preseason top-10 team. If there are academic/eligibility issues, why wouldn't he just stay in the Draft or go G League/overseas and enter the Draft in 2019? Makes so sense to sit out a year and then declare for the 2020 draft when who knows what his draft stock will be then.

Not strange at all. The NBA guys said "Hey kid you need to stay in college and get better at a couple things. No reason to go to Europe yet as we know you already got nice payday from Bruce, so your best avenue is stay in college."

Aaron Torres mentioned on Twitter that UConn would be a logical landing spot.

But there's no possible way he can join the team unless someone on the roster leaves, right?

Technically yes. Although, I suppose he could go to a JUCO for a year (not play) then choose to come at the end of the season. Pie in the sky thinking but that's the only alternative I can think of other than booting someone from the team or pulling a scholly. Let's not forget that Hurley's contract does discuss the potential loss of scholarships from the NCAA investigation, as well so may not have a lot of room to play with should that come down in the near future.

Has UConn written all over it. Didn’t people mention roster wasn’t set. Could someone be leaving? There needs to be a spot but this would be great.

Auburn's Mustapha Heron to withdraw from NBA Draft, transfer closer to home | Zagsblog
The 6-foot-5 Waterbury, Conn., native was testing the NBA Draft waters without an agent and worked out for the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers. He has opted to withdraw from the draft but transfer from Auburn in order to be closer to his mother, Thalia Heron, who lives in West Haven, Conn.

“What people don’t know is Mustapha’s mom has been sick for a year,” Bryan Heron said Tuesday by phone. “Being home, he wants to get closer to his mom. He knew he had to go back to school. The last month he’s been here and he wants to be close to his mom, where she can see him play.”

Heron will apply for a hardship waiver to be immediately eligible for the 2018-19 season at his new school.

I know Mustapha personally and he is a nice respectful kid. My brother is part of the Rens orgnaization and is close to him and his brother as well as being Sacred Heart graduates ourselves.

I don't know what went down with Auburn or why he went there to begin with but like you all I heard the rumors as well.

I will try and find out but doubtful Uconn would want and him and vice versa.

Well that's interesting. Nothing else made sense, to be honest. 2 year immediately eligible if he gets the waiver.

He thought about transferring before last year because of this.

Tough news about his mother. Kids have been getting waivers in similar situations recently.
