To me, this is very disappointing to see. Youth invites poor decisions which this could and should fall under. That said, she needs to issue a statement on how stupid and immature it was to acknowledge she has taken accountability and grown from this. Otherwise, this just highlights the lack of vetting about “character” that had gone on at Tenn. So all you Tenn fans-what say you?

[Tennessee officials] added that "we believe Jordan has learned from this and used it as an opportunity for growth."

I agree.

Let her breathe. Could catch any player from any team especially the one right here in CT on Friday/Saturday nights and question some activities and character. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows

Well, must admit I did some real stupid things in my youth. My major problem was the kids I hung out with, we were born to get in trouble! Fortunately, you learn from your mistakes and move on, I did.

Why is it a shame? It's the number 1 headline on ESPN's WCBB home page. Like it or not, it's news.
It’s not wheather I like it or not. How can something be expunged when it’s embedded in the internet?

She made a mistake. She took responsibilty for it. The matter is settled. Looks like she grew up a bit.

A ‘mistake’ is cutting class, being late to practice, hurting someone’s feelings or maybe blowing off an event you committed to attend. Stealing is a crime, not a ‘mistake’.

While I think we give young people some latitude and perhaps less punishment because of their immaturity when committing crimes, I don’t think we do them any favors by downplaying it for what it is. Unfortunately, when you accept the benefit of being in the public eye, it comes with a cost. Her reputation is tarnished and it is up to her to figure out how to rebuild it.

Lady Vol player Jordan Horston has been cited for shoplifting at an outlet mall. I want to point out that this is a citation, not a guilty plea. But not a good look for her or UT. Maybe the BY will be relieved that she did not sign with UConn. Update: She has pleaded guilty to theft of property and fined and placed on a probation like status.

This was last summer. She got busted for taking $125 of stuff from a Tommy Hilfiger store on August 3 and was suspended by the team for one game during their Italy trip. She has to do 20 hours of community service and stay clean for a year.

That might be the case, but the Knoxville News sentinel reported it this morning by saying that the plea deal was finalized today. The event is old news, but the reporting today brought it back to the public's attention.

I never heard about it til today - apparently wasn’t known to the media until her court case was resolved.

Right. It may have happened a few months ago but it was first reported on today. The "punishment" was to not play a game during the exhibition tour in Italy but the explanation given for not playing in that game was illness.

It's not that big a deal but the LVs probably could have handled it better.

How so? Is there something other than the canned response from the program saying she learned from it?
