There is a picture like a tiny tree in the formatting bar. When you click on that it opens a box where you can enter an image URL.

Holding your cursor over any of the links will provide a brief description of the function.

I find emoticons very important. There is very little distinction between a lot of my humor from my serious side. At least with emoticons I can help people get hints. (I'm winking with my left eye, my right eye is seriously open)
