Worse game ever?

A top-ranked UConn team lost to lowly St. Johns at home in 2012 I believe. It broke their 99 home game losing streak - thats why I remember. The 2nd half was abysmal. UConn couldnt make a shot to save their lives and lost on a last-second 3-pointer. That was pretty bad...
We were also missing Stef in that game. I think she was out sick.

99 home game winning streak.:D

These kids aren't robots. Stuff happens. They pulled it together and won.

I'm very interested to see how our girls play/execute tomorrow against UCF. We didn't expect Memphis to be as competitive as they were. Memphis played UP to their level of competition, while UConn played DOWN to theirs, trailing by 6 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Memphis almost played UConn even for 30 minutes, as UConn led by 2 at the half 35-33. Other teams scout us as we scout them. Memphis did some things that upset their rhythm and flow. Memphis was moderately successful to the point other teams may try to employ some of the schemes and tactics they did.

Last year UCF was not a prolific 3 point shooting team. Hopefully that hasn't changed. “It’s going to be identical to Memphis” Auriemma said. “They’re a very similar team, plays very similar stuff. And we’re on the road. It’s our fourth game in what, seven days? Hopefully we’ll shoot the ball better and hopefully we’ll play better defense. Hopefully we’ll run better offense. Hopefully we’ll get more production from our bench.”

Dangerfield predicted the UCF matchup would be, as customary, a “dogfight." That’s what life is like for the Huskies in their final year in the AAC, with the target on their back and on the road against one of the conference’s better squads. “They’re going be like that even more because teams understand this is our last year in the conference,” Dangerfield said. “They already want to beat us, so it’s just more fuel to their fire.”

Now, what happens IF UConn plays another carbon copy Memphis game Thursday? Massey has UConn winning 69-53.

Can UConn win by the 13 point margin predicted by Massey, and take control of the game from the tip? Or will they struggle again to keep pace with the Golden Knights (14-1/5-0), who will no doubt play like they have nothing to lose..............which they don't.

Will ONO regain her form of double digit points and rebounds? Will Geno get any production from the 5th starter (whoever starts) spot? Will he get any production from the bench? Will Irwin and Griffin take more shots to help the team whether they go in or not, taking some pressure off the BIG 3?

Can ONO stay on the floor and out of foul trouble? Will she do a better job of guarding the rim? There were too many uncontested layups for Memphis.

Lots of things to look for tomorrow night. It would be refreshing to see not only some individual growth and improvement, but overall team improvement as well.

November 17, 2014. Stanford wins 88-86. Nobody could stop the Stanford guards. Who was on the team? Stewart, Jefferson, Tuck, KML, Stokes, Nurse, Gabby W, Chong. I believe Tuck and Nurse fouled out.

Insomnia here so.........

I didn't watch the game and have only watched UConn once this season and that was against Baylor. When UConn's four best players are all clicking they are a good as any team in the country. Against Baylor that wasn't the case and looking at the stats ONO wasn't effective against Memphis.

UConn fans have rarely experienced this type of team in a long time but I do think people are forgetting the years between 04 and 08 produced some less than stellar performances as the program was between DT and Maya. This roster has some deficiencies compared with UConn of the past decade plus but is still a very good team, albeit one that is still a work in progress.

This season has shown so far that even the top teams have been pushed or beaten on certain nights against lesser foes. While in some ways it can be frustrating for fans of those teams I also think it makes the year more exciting because we don't know who is going rise to the top in March. I figured this season was all about Baylor and Oregon before it started and while I still think it's likely one of those wins the NC, I see there are other contenders as well and both of those teams have their own deficiencies to make up.

UConn has played fantastic basketball for many, many years and will continue to for years to come. There is a ton of basketball to be played.

Another mediocre performance against a mediocre team. This isn’t the same team that went toe to toe against Baylor for 3 periods. They are a downward spiral offensively and against a good team they are going to lose. They look tired and lethargic. Their offense seems to have no flow to it.

Unfortunately, the answer keeps changing. :(

Bottom line they won....These young ladies are human. They are entitled to have a bad game every once in a while. Have any of you ever had a bad day at work. In your life?

Worse game ever? Wait until they play Tennessee, Oregon, and SC, and they still may make the FF.

You know if I'm picking the worst game ever, I'm starting with the ones we lost. I'm sure I can find one in there before I get to the games we won. Head bang

I think the word is out for teams of less talent offensively to face guard, guard tightly , double on the ball from half court, where we should be taking advantage of that by moving , moving, we are not.I also think that Aubrey does that better than most. Geno will have them adjust

I've been thinking the last time i saw a Uconn team play this poorly and I don't recall.....it's very depressing..For 35 minutes the other night they fought till they ran out of gas and were beaten by a better team..to have not 1 but 2 number 1 ranked high school players and another ranked number 2 and play like that last night is atrocious! They should be ashamed..y ou can have all the talent in the world but to not play hard..there is no excuse..Molly albeit with a lot less talent is the only one that showed any hustle at all..Do they have to have an AA on the team to show them how to play? The shots nay not fall and they can get phantom calls against them sometimes but as long as they play hard and hustle what more can you ask for..this does not even resemble any Uconn team I've been rooting for since Rebecca Lobo.
The irony of their poor play is that it makes the games against AAC opponents more interesting to watch. Because we might well lose one.

Was that the BEast final?

that reminds me - the loss to Villanova in the BEast final at Rutgers was damn fugly, too. Didn’t stop the Huskies from a national championship though
Senior night, I think.

What's wrong with Aubrey and Ono grabbing rebounds together with the three scorers scoring in all other aspects. Give it a few games to cure Aubrey of the willy s and you'd have something no team could touch

Perfect response!
