Women in Music

Mary Chapin Carpenter wrote it but I can't find a clip of her singing it with decent audio.
Wynonna got some mileage out of it, though.

.-.
Mary Fahl has a distinctive voice, she was the lead singer for October Project and they put out 2 CDs, I think.
Mary went out on a solo career.

.-.
Rachel Sweet (16) did a respectable cover of the Carla Thomas hit 'B-a-b-y'.
Carla's version had a small bit in the movie 'Baby Driver'.

Laura Nyro - As a songwriter had big hits for artists including the Fifth Dimension, Streisand, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat and Tears, etc. She could also sing. Was living n CT when she died in 1997. Elected R&R Hall of Fame 2012.
Oh banta you keep beating me to some of my fav's...! Good for you. I was going to grab one of Laura Nyro's songs later tonight- but heck I'll just go and give her a nod anyway for another great tune.

I saw her around 1988 in a little music hall here in Indy - loved it, she was a true musical dynamo:

Cassidy Janson is a known British actress, who is also quite a singer. This is an amazing rendition of a Louis Prima favorite I Want You to Be My Baby. (With the Jive Aces )

.-.
I posted something by Michelle Branch. She was reasonably successful as a solo artist. Then out of nowhere she resurfaced as part of a country duo, that really caught everybody by surprise.

.-.
I didn't know anything about this band until they appeared as themselves and contributed several songs to the movie 10 Thiings I Hate About You.
