Women in Music

This singer was really well known for a while for one song, but she had some other good stuff that didn't hit it as big. Saw her at a small venue after her star had faded somewhat. She said she liked the food in Seattle. I yelled out from the back of the room that she could move here. She chuckled slightly. That was my big moment with her.

I can't quite delineate between the end of the 90s and the beginning of the early 2000s, but dang that was a good era. I'm getting nearly intoxicated on nostalgia here.

I was late to the party with Rilo Kiley. They have so many good songs. Fronted by Jenny Lewis. She did a few solo albums while the band was together, and when they broke up she went solo permanently. Saw her live once, fantastic show.

I don't think I can pick just one from this band, I like so many of their songs.

I might need an intervention, I don't think I can stop. I haven't even gone into folk/country yet. Or metal. Or synth pop.

There's just a ton of these young indie rock singer/songwriters, seems it's a whole sub genre, but I don't know a name for it if it has one.

.-.
Last one for now. I've got a ton more in my pocket. Some of them I posted are fairly obscure, but not her. She probably started indie, but she's gone on to much acclaim and success. I think this is the song that really got the ball rolling for her.
