WNIT 2021 = 32 teams [merged thread]

A Villanova win over Florida today would help "not hurt" the Big East, while a loss would be a tad embarrassing to be honest...
I wouldn't see it as an embarrassment really. Florida is actually higher in the NET than Nova (62 vs. 76). Much like Nova, FL's best wins came over bubble teams, but they were pretty consistent about beating the scrub teams (no losses lower than Quad 2) and they were competitive in several of their games against the bigger dogs of the conference. Single-digit losses to Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas.

Illinois St. 68
Samford 62

Rice looking for their 20th win of the season over Fresno State and the Cavinder twins. After being held to 48 by the Sun Devil jRice scores 25 in the first quarter to open up the double-digit lead over the Bulldogs.

Rice shoots 55% in the first quarter in a domination of Fresno State.

Bulldogs hanging on for their lives. Haley Cavinder trying to keep thrm in the game but it's a tough road to hoe as Rice continues to lead by double digits going into the half.

Mulkey with 15 and frontcourt teammate Lauren Schwartz with 10 at the half.

Rice's 46 first half points are 2 shy of the 48 they scored in the entire game yesterday.

Cavinder twins open the half with a three and lay up to quickly bring the Dogs to within 9.

Twins with 13 points in the 3rd to close Rice's lead to 5

Delaware beat Clemson tp advance to the regional final.

I'm telling ya, that coach is one to watch.

Mulky with 28 and Schwartz with 20 are just too much for Fresno State. the Bulldogs couldn't overcome a horrific 13 point first quarter and in spite of efforts by the twins fall to Rice team that picks up it's 20th win. Kudos to Rice for their second victory in a row this one one in a more familiar pattern.

Perhaps they belonged in the big dance?

A rematch of a game played on Nov. 28 at Northern Iowa, which UNI won by 3.

Creighton opened the season 0-3 with a gauntlet of Drake, UNI and South Dakota State. Then they got into the win column by creaming Butler and then humbling the Poser 5 team from the state of Nebraska. A very up and down season for the Bluejays.

Jay's Horan hits a 3 (her only points today) to close within a point with 55 seconds left.

27 seconds remaining, Blue Jays take the time out trailng by a point. Out of time out Jay's foul and NI misses both ......AND Rembao nails the three to give Creighton the lead with 9 tics on the clock!

Heartbreak hotel to quote Phoenix Sun's long time announcer Al Mccoy. And Green hits a layup with four seconds remaining - Northern Iowa escapes.

UNI wins 64-63.
Rembao had back to back buckets to give Creighton a 1-point lead with 9 seconds to play, then UNI after a timeout scored an and-1 with 4 seconds left, but missed the FT. Creighton's last-second heave didn't come close.

2nd round games are halfway through now:

Delaware d. Clemson, advances to face Florida/Villanova.
Colorado d. Nebraska, advances to face Ole Miss/Tulane.
Northern Iowa d. Creighton, advances to face Milwaukee/St. Louis.

Villanova up 18 with 7 minute left in the 4th, 66 - 48.

Not quite official yet, but ouch, Milwaukee is rolling out the Arizona St. offense tonight. Have scored 26 and it's almost the end of Q3.

St. Louis 61
Milwaukee 44

Ole Miss up 10 w/ about 30 seconds left.

DePaul out in first round? Yikes. Terrible end of season. Lost like 5 out of 6 games I think.

There's a losers bracket this year, they dropped 2 games in the WNIT.
