WNIT 2021 = 32 teams [merged thread]

Complete implosion by Mizzou in 4Q. A game they had in hand.
From the WNIT's write-up:

"Fresno State scored nine straight points in the final 1 minute, 26 seconds to shock Missouri with a comeback victory in Round 1 of the 2021 Postseason WNIT. ... Todorova drained another 3-pointer as Fresno State went up, 76-75, with 21 seconds to go. Missouri missed a 3-pointer at :08; Hanna Cavinder hit two free throws, and the Tigers had their last-gasp 3-pointer blocked at the buzzer."

So I think this sets up a Fresno State - Rice game in the winners bracket. Missouri will get a chance to get healthy against my Sun Devils in the consolation bracket.

Florida 66
Charlotte 65

Ole Miss is killing Samford. San Franciso and Houston are tied early Q3. DePaul down 6 to St. Louis late in Q3.

DePaul continuing their end of season crash and burn. Trailing St. Louis by 14 in Q4.

That makes 3 of the 4 teams with overall losing records who won today. And this game was played in Charlotte, albeit not in Charlotte's home gym.

Just a disastrous final third of the season for DePaul. They went from almost beating Texas A&M and beating Kentucky to losing to Butler, barely missing an NCAA bid, and then losing to St. Louis. By far the worst stretch of play for the program in recent memory.

DePaul has come storming back to tie the game in the closing seconds.

.-.
St. Louis w/ a pair of FTs to go up 2, 6 seconds left.

DePaul's big rally comes up just short.

San Francisco beats Houston 71-63.

Ole Miss 64-45 over Samford.

My Cougs :(

Not a good showing for the first team out.

The Dons advances to face the winner of Cal Baptist vs. New Mexico.

Teams from California are 2-0 (San Fran, Fresno St). Cal Baptist will try to make it 3-0.

Mid majors from Cali off to a good start. Hopefully CBU can keep it going.

edit--sorry about your Houston team

Some interesting matchups. You have former Missouri Valley foes getting reacquainted, and also former Big 8/Big 12 members facing off.

Nice win for Jacks 82-69. First ever tournament win for NAU in their second post season appearance.

Rasheed a HUGE game -29 points on 12 of 16 from the floor and 13 boards. Schenck with a double double and 8 boards.

Who pissed off 'Nova? 64-33 start of Q4.

Milwaukee is taking it to Drake 22-9.

New Mexico leading Cal Baptist by 3. Pace is probably more to CBU's preference than UNM's.

UMass put a little bit of window dressing on it, but Nova rolls 78-51.

Milwaukee is stretching their lead out even further. Tulane on a 20-5 run in Q3 to take command against Illinois St.

I feel like Nova was better this season than their resume showed. They were very consistent in beating all the "lesser" teams on their schedule; they split with DePaul and Seton Hall but went 0-2 against Marquette and of course 0-2 against UConn.

Just about over, Milwaukee crushing Drake 81-42. This is the kind of result that is just about impossible to predict. On paper they look fairly close to even I would think.

Cal Baptist keeps the winning streak alive, and next has a very winnable 2nd round game against San Francisco. Gotta consider CBU the favorite here, although San Fran does have wins over NCAA at-large team BYU and, now, Houston.

Tulane 75-67 over Illinois St. Milwaukee w/ the 84-46 drubbing.

Rice kinda sticking out like sore thumb w/ all those other schools from Cal advancing.
No, Rice is the team that belongs. The Californians are the intruders, much as they've been here in the general population, driving up our cost of living  .

You blame everything on Californians in Texas too? That's a popular past time in Washington and Oregon.

Hey Plebe. My St. Louis Lady Billikens beat DePaul! What's this ol' world coming to, things just ain't the same, anytime the hunter (DePaul), gets captured by the game (St. Louis).;)

New Mexico withdraws from the consolation round due to the 2 injuries to players in yesterdays game. I believe Houston advances to Consolation Final game for Ft Worth Region.
The above is per Hoops Guru Mel Greenberg tweet today.
