WNBA Thread - Post Olympics

Jones and Parker showing up early. Rough go for Dolson in Q1.

Sky bench in general has been brutal. Bad TOs and nothing positive.

TOs are going to be the difference in this game. After trailing most of the game Sun is up 5 now approaching halftime.

Sky recover after a bad stretch to take a 1 point lead at the break.

Jones and Jones are wrecking Chicago. Bonner scoring too. Backcourt not doing much.

Parker keeping up w/ the Sun post players (well scoring, not rebounding). Sloot has 8 assists.

Jonquel playing like an MVP. Needs more help. Brionna and Bonner have disappeared in Q3. Heideman doing some good things off the bench.

Sloot stat sheet stuffing. 10 pts/12 assists/6 reb/3 steals/1 block. Light years better than the starting Sun guards tonight.

66-63 Sky thru Q3.

Sloot can't play 40 minutes/game, but things go downhill so fast every time she gets a rest on the bench.

edit--huh, after surrendering the lead, now Sky back up 6 and Sloot still out

.-.
Jeez, already a big FT disparity and Sun almost in the bonus 1:15 into Q4. Come on now!

Dolson is a walking turnover. Not sure why they are even playing her tonight.

It's bad enough many of the Sun players beg for a foul on every shot, Ruocco is doing it for them too.

A. Thomas takes about 5 steps trying to secure a rebound, trips, gets rewarded w/ FTs. Sun have doubled up the Sky in FTA. Sketchy.

.-.
Chicago choking away this opportunity for a big win.

If Miller got a dollar for every time he said aaiiight, he would be a very rich man. It's not annoying or anything.

OT. Bonner with a fairly terrible shot to end regulation. Yeah...I'm just not a fan. 4-15 shooting. Shot selection looks as bad to me as it ever was. Why not try to get one of the Joneses the last look closer to the bucket?

A lot of airball 3's in OT. I think there are some tired legs out there.

Sloot tied a playoff record w/ her 16th assist (Bird held the record, who else).

Stevens has been out for a LONG time. Ndour had some good minutes earlier, but she's done nothing for quite a while. That seems like a bad coaching move.

.-.
Looks like Williams is trying to keep the Aces in the game by herself in the other one. Merc off to a good start.

edit--some kid named Taurasi has 3 3's and Pho up by 9 thru Q1.

Sloot w/ a terrible TO, but saves it by getting a steal at the other end. 2OT.

LV-Phoenix is going to be at halftime before this is over.

Why no Stevens? Now they've gone back to Dolson, who has not had a good game.

Did Jonquel run out of gas? She had 22 fairly early in Q3. Stuck at 26, well into 2nd OT.

Parker up to 37 minutes. I predict she's gonna have nothing in the next game. Will be really costly if they lose this one while wearing her out.

Both team's players are so worn our at this 2nd OT .. This is a really good game to watch.

.-.
Chicago up 4. Another bad TO by Sloot. She is up to 18 assists. And 1 rebound shy of a triple double.

There's the triple double for Sloot! This one is over. Don't know that they can win the series, but nice statement game by the Sky.

Only the 2nd playoff triple double ever. First was Swoopes.

Jonquel disappeared. I have no idea when her last bucket was, but nothing in either OT.

edit--she stopped grabbing rebounds too

Some big minutes--Bonner 48, J. Jones 45, J. Thomas 42, Sloot 44, Quigley 42, Copper 41. 3 other players 37 minutes or more. Who will be more tired for Game 2?

Aces have recovered to take a slight lead. Williams lighting in up w/ 17. Gray has 11 pts/7 assists.

Griner and Taurasi doing their thing for the Merc.

52-49 at the half.
