WNBA Thread - Post Olympics

NY and Dallas battling it out. Winner takes a big step toward the playoffs. Looks like Sabally is back for the Wings.

Oof. Lib get outscored 21-10 in Q4, lose by 1. One win since the Olympics break. Have lost 10 of 11. And STILL might get into the playoffs.

Dallas moves to 13-17, I think that all but guarantees they'll be in the post season.

I really thought once Howard was back and got some games under her belt, NY would be solid. They just can't close out games.

Thx. According to wnba.com, Dallas has now clinched a spot in the playoffs. Satou Sabally was back and one of four Wings with 13 pts., joining Arike, Allisha Gray and Kayla Thornton. Marina Mabrey led the way with 21 pts., 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Having Sabally back is a huge + for them. If Harrison can join them, that will help even more up front.

Connecticut w/ a small lead late in Q3 against Phoenix. Griner winning the statistical battle against J. Jones in this one.

I guess last game of season with Liberty Mystics might mean something. Of course, if I go to the game, Liberty will lose and I will be really pissed

Sun pulled away a bit in Q4. 76-67 final. If JJ and Griner are the 2 front runners for MVP at this point, not sure what you do with this one. Winning is the most important thing, and Jones did grab 16 rebounds, but a a horrid 5-18 shooting performance. Meanwhile Griner put up 25 on 11-18 and also had a double-double.

Dallas secured a playoff spot with a record of 13-17. Dallas's final 2 games are against the Aces so the Wings could end the season 13-19. The 3 contenders for the final spot have W-L records that are 11-18, 11-19 and 10-19.

Meanwhile, the 3 and 4 seeds -- with records this season well above .500 -- will be rewarded with playing in a single elimination round where anything can and often does happen.

That's a professional career high (Her career high was in an NCAA semifinal game against a team with a dog for a nickname.... ;) )
Wow, really? I mean, are you sure she didn't score more in one of her high school games? Or how about in her 5th grade YMCA league?

Pretty sure you're well aware that "career high" for pros is invariably understood to refer to their professional career.

Hadn't taken you as the gratuitous rub-in-the-face type. I'd expect it from the Benchers who gloated about Jackie in Tokyo taking another title away from Katie Lou, but not from you.

Sky should be cruising against a depleted Mystics. They ended Q1 giving up a 15-0 run and missed 12 straight shots. Now down 10.

Tina doing it all. 16 pts 6 Rebounds 3 Assists in 1st half.

Sky somehow closed to within 10 at the half, but 2 minutes into the 2nd half Coach Wade got so disgusted w/ his starters he pulled them all. Lead is 16 currently. Chicago is 0-12 behind the arc.

Sky bench got the deficit down to 8, w/ a couple chances to get even closer on 3s that rimmed out. Dana Evans leading the charge.

Mystics might give this one away. Sky still not playing very well, but lead is down to 3. Was 18 at one point.

Washington woke up down the stretch, should stave off the comeback attempt. Sky had no answer for Charles. Stevens having a nice game, big in Q4.

79-71 final, much needed win for the Mystics. 31/10 for Charles. Cloud and Walker-Kimbrough added 16 and 14.

Chicago finished 3-22 behind the arc.

My goodness. Forgot about the Storm game, just turned it on. A few minutes into Q2. Seattle hasn't gotten out of the gate yet. Trailing 30-13. Shooting 22%. Nobody has more than 1 made FG. Of course Stewie being out is a big deal...but I'm kinda seeing the Storm being one and done in the playoffs this year.

Sparks up 18 at half. Prince leading the Storm w/ 7. I think they miss Canada, really no backup PG. Bird having another not very good game (1-5 shooting, 0 assists).

Cooper torching Seattle w/ 13, Wheeler has 10.

66-40 after Q3. Prince is the only Storm player doing anything. Ogwumike and various LA guards doing whatever they want.

Did not get to see the Fever game, can someone explain how the Lynx got to shoot 18 more free throws.

That is just a crazy disparity.

W/ Stewie out, Loyd and Bird have a combined 8 points on 3-16 shooting in 50 minutes. Not gonna get it done. And 3 assists, all from Loyd.

The only thing worse than the Storm’s play was the endless chatter from the two commentators. Sure, the game was out of reach but I still wanted to concentrate on what was happening on the court. With two minutes to go, I had enough of their drivel and played solitaire.

Strong game from Naphessa in a up and down personal season although 3pt shooting form appears pretty shaky still

Nice to see Crystal break out and become the clutch 4th Q player the Lynx needed

'Down the stretch, the Lynx finally slowed the Fever down. Thanks in large part to Dangerfield'.

"Lucky for us, we got to see the rookie of the year Crystal Dangerfield,'' Reeve said.

Wings vs Aces this afternoon on the NBA channel. Cambage still out for Aces and Wings don't have Harrison, Moriah Jefferson or Satou Sabally. Short bench for them. 31-25 now, with Wilson having 10 and Ogunbowale 11. Mabrey had 5 assists in 1st quarter.
