Interesting.

I wonder if that means Wheeler isn't coming back. I know everybody w/ the Aces was always overflowing with praise for Colson...but I don't think she's exactly primary backup PG material.

Wheeler wasn't coming back at $222,000 (see link on my previous post about remaining UFA's).

You're right about Colson not really being the next obvious choice for back-up PG, but I guess Steph White didn't think Grace Berger merited a chance at that, either, since they put her on the waiver wire this week, as well.

New Fever front office regime is bringing in a lot of vets to apparently go for it this season before the CBA needs to be renegotiated and a majority of the league's players may be free agents.

That said, I wonder who merits a look at PG..

Colson signing is surprising, especially with all of the nasty things her agent has said about Clark on twitter. Wheeler isn't commanding that salary again but who else in the league is offering her more than the vet minimum at this point in her career? A vet minimum on the Fever is probably more attractive than anywhere else with the exposure.

I think Colson is a perfect fit for Indy. Clark isn’t coming off the court more than a few minutes each game so there’s no reason to spend much money on a backup, and Colson has carved out a career being a good teammate/locker room vibe which is super important for any title contender and she won’t bring any drama or complaints about playing time. Wheeler would’ve been a good fit too if she was okay with vet minimum, but she was the most overpaid player in the league last year

It's a business and obviously Colson's agent worked it out with the Fever. It's not like agents making inflammatory comments is unusual in any sport. I'm not justifying it, but this happens more than we care to admit. The deal is signed and it's time to move on and see what happens when they get on the court.

agents just outright trashing another player that has nothing to do with them does not regularly happen in the other major sports, but then again alot of the stuff that happens in the WNBA doesn't happen in other sports/leagues because none of them are as chronically online like the W. at the end of the day it's nothing against Colson, but Gina Paradiso needs to act more professional with the stuff she posts. If it wasn't a bad look she wouldn't have deleted her twitter.

Maybe Seattle is a good fit. Her and Skylar with Gabby and EM and Nneka? Pretty solid.

I'm mixed on this. Mabrey's been caught in the crosshairs when it comes to teams that are rebuilding.

She was part of a trade to a team where the coach dipped midway through the season. She gets traded to a team who had a chance at the title only to see it implode during the off-season. I can understand why she's asking.

So when Tip retired from the WNBA, she really just retired from the CT Sun. Since then she's played for the Aces and now signed with the Valkyries. :(

Maybe. It's hard to say for sure from my vantage point.

I am surprised Hayes signed with golden state. I don’t really think this is why she came out of retirement. But maybe she looked around and is just excited about the wnba in general right now?

The Fever were a contender when they got a coach. With the players they signed in free agency though they might have moved into a spot where they are the favorite but until you see how the players gel together you don't know. CC is the best player in the league in my opinion and Boston has a lot of potential, then you add the likes of Bonner and Howard and you now have five really good players with some strength on the bench.

Laeticia Amihere was awarded on waivers to the Golden State Valkyries, according to the WNBA transaction page.

This should make @cancontent pleased to see another fellow Canadian can get a change for PT in the W.

I'm mixed on this to be honest with you @Dillon77.

It's good to hear she's landed somewhere. My concern is will she use this opportunity to get better so she can remain in the league?

This opinion is based on what I saw during her HS days. There are some in Ontario Basketball and Canada Basketball circles who are of the opinion that she didn't develop as she should have. Our lack of athletic depth made it possible for her to get away with it more than she should have.

When I contrast her development with Aaliyah Edwards, it's glaring. She had a year head start to boot. I sincerely hope she takes advantage of this opportunity when she returns from Australia and her time in the WNBL.
