Here's another announcement.

I've been busy with the holidays and only saw these announcements today on Boxing Day:
- As noted, at least Curt Miller hired the guy he wanted (as opposed to Greg Bibb) with Chris Koclanes.
Now, whether it's more of a match for where they want to go, as opposed to where they are now...well, I guess we'll find that out. However, I highly doubt that means Kiki Iriafen will follow Koklanes from U$C to the Wings. ;)
- As for the Mystics....this seems more like "we're tired of the Thibaults, let's see what we can find...." and this is it? Really, Sydney Johnson, with one year on the staff of the Chicago Sky (and they were all let go)?
The Thibaults, at least, left some players on the Mystics roster who were being developed so this group should benefit from that. But I'm not judging anything until a few years down the road....

Mystics? Huge is what happens with DelleDonne and they have 2 great draft picks in a loaded class at #4 and #6. Could see quick improvement.

Sure. There's good talent out there. I'm just voicing my uncertainty that they chose the right people to make those choices and mesh them into what they do have. The Mystics do player development and that should not be discounted.

As for DelleDonne, her career is getting like a cha cha: one step forward, two steps back. Is it worth taking the dance card?

I will say, watching ND, it is clear to me that the #2 pick for LA should be Olivia Miles. She's more of a natural PG than Paige, has clearly worked on her 3-point shooting, and is so dynamic in open court. Not a bad consolation prize at all, imo.

Heck if the teams drafting stay the same, I can see Olivia going #1 to the Wings & Paige going #2 to LA.

I think Paige is still the clear #1, but it is interesting question if we think an Olivia/Arike backcourt would work better than a Paige/Arike backcourt.

Rebecca Prenevost of Her Hoops Stats takes a loook at "stretch forwards" in the organization's periodic "WNBA prospectology" posts. Forwards listed, interestingly enough, all play for B1G teams and include: Angela Dugalic of UCLA, Julia Ayrault of Michigan State and Jordan Hobbs of Michigan....except for Maddy Westbeld of Notre Dame. Here's the article.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see Aryault getting some recognition for her play.

I am loving the Jordan Hobbs write-up. Jordan has paid her dues and stepping into her light right now. The "glue" player fits Jordan well. She has been that all everything for Michigan, especially this season. She doesn't put up a lot shots but she could. She just plays within the system Coach KAB runs and does a decent job. Jordan would be a heck of a WNBA player.

That wouldn’t seem to make Dallas any more attractive a landing place for Paige.
Maybe not, but who out of the top 4, heck even top 5 picks are? They all have question marks when it comes to attractiveness. Not to mention, we don't know how things will play out with free agency.

Reddit seems to think Satou's headed to the Liberty. Oregon reunion with her/Nyara/Sabrina all there. If the Liberty plan to resign Stewart, I don't know how they afford both her and Satou unless they're okay taking massive paycuts and they load the roster with rookies. They could go with an all time tall lineup of:
C-Jones, 6'6
F-Stewart, 6'4
F-Sabally, 6'4
G-Fiebich, 6'4
G-Ionescu, 5'11

Plus, you've got the unsettled CBA coming around in 2026. Whomever "gets" the elder Sabally sister is undoubtedly only getting her for a year, so they're going to ok with being in a "win right now" situation to give up someone/something once the Wings first core, then trade her.

Depending on how Miller and Wings handle this, Bueckers and Miles -- both of whom have the options to return to college campuses in '25-'26 -- would also seem to have options. Reminds me of a bit of what Carson Beck is doing with Georgia/pros/portal in collegiate football.

Couple dimensions of chess coming up here.

The juggling of contracts to accomplish this would be amazing to see in the background. I may not always understand the actual machinations of salary caps, etc., but I find this type of stuff interesting.
