Last night the Mercury overcame their glaring defensive deficiencies to hold on at home against the Dream.

Entertaining to see the past and the present duel from the 3-point line as DT and Howard went back and forth at the end of the game.

Glad the Mercury won but it wasn't for lack of trying to hand the game to the Dream. The Mercury 12-point lead with 3 minutes remaining evaporated as Howard morphs into Steph Curry and Skylar Diggins gets an idiotic technical foul.

The Mercury escape in large part because the Dream can't work up a game winner with Parker heaving a shot up rather than leaving the ball in the hands of Steph Curry I mean Rhyne Howard.

The W emphasis on offense is clear and plays to the strength of the Mercury. With that said the Mercury's lack of interest in defense guarantees they'll lose 20 games this year.

KLS got off to a fast start for LA, then sat for quite a while for some reason. A'ja well on her way to a monster game, still early in Q2. I was hoping Young might be back, Aces haven't played for almost a week, but she's still out. Looks like Cambage can't play for more than about 3-4 minutes at a time before she gets tired. Nneka still doing her thing, just killed the backup bigs from Vegas. Stokes is not having a good game, on either end of the floor.

Wilson w/ 22 pts and 8 rebs...at halftime. If she played like this more often, I could definitely get behind the talk for her for MVP, but she's been totally inconsistent all year. Aces have run out to a 17 point lead.

Katie Lou 11 mins and 11 pts ...much better than Liz Cambage 4 pts 2 fouls.

This just isn't fair. Aces up 26 now. Wilson has 30. Hamby hitting everything she throws up. Plum and Gray mostly dishing assists tonight and not scoring so much.

Although they aren't always guarding each other, good battle between Plum and Canada. Virtually identical stats thus far.

Wilson was insanely hot most of the game, but cooled off down the stretch. Finished 13-23, 35 pts/11 reb. Hamby 8-10 for 20 pts/8 reb. 3 ball wouldn't go in but Plum had 17 pts/8 assists.

Aces hardly scored in Q4 and still won 89-72. Got to see about 2 minutes of Keystone Cops w/ the bench in at the end of the game.

KLS finished w/ 13, she had 7 in the first 5 minutes. Nneka led LA w/ 16. Cambage pretty much M.I.A.

Oof, Carter was 3-14 for the Sparks.

I really like Hamby's game. Just quietly goes about her business. Runs the court and finishes on the fast break about as well as anyone in the league. Hits some 3's, gets some garbage points, plays D and grabs rebounds. On a star studded team she doesn't get a lot of attention but she's certainly a big part of their success.

I've been singing her praises since 2014

She hasn't been as consistent as Young/Plum but she's been a steady force. She's had 3 bad shooting games all year and overall is 9th in scoring, 2nd in rebounds, 2nd in blocks. I'd still put Plum/Young ahead of her, but the 3 of them seem far ahead of anyone else in the MVP race so far.

She was great in the first of back to back games against the Sun, but really struggled in the second game. Then the next game, the first one w/ Young out of the lineup, she was all but invisible. I have a hard time overlooking stuff like that.

3 players from 1 team being in the MVP race could lead to them splitting votes amongst themselves and allowing someone else to get the hardware. Stewie's got the stats, but Seattle needs to win more games. Nobody is putting up huge numbers for the Sun, but they've been really good. Not even sure whether A. Thomas or J. Jones would be the front runner from that team. Bonner and B. Jones are right there in terms of productivity with those other two. For a few games EDD looked like her former MVP self, but now unfortunately she's pretty much a part time player.

I think Stewie is rounding into shape statistically and if the Storm start winning a little more, she is a contender but the winner has to be on the Aces because of the team. I do wonder if the 3 Aces players split the vote too much?

Remember this year you have 4 more games in a condensed time frame.
Some players will be worn out in the 2nd half of the season.

Just what does Lexi Brown do to get around 28 minutes a game? Sykes is the best defender on the team and at least can score. Lexi Brown shouldn't be a starter on any team in the league, the coach needs to go.

Yeah I never understood why they say KLS for so long. The Sparks were rolling and had the lead with the line up they had with KLS. I will have to watch the game again to see what was wrong and why the coach staff sat KLS for so long. She was looking solid out there. A'ja Wilson was just on a mission! She was unstoppable. The Aces just seem to be on a roll and clicking.

Looking forward to attending the Fever/Lynx game later today. Two teams that are reeling. Hopefully my beloved Lynx can play well enough and get a win.

Good Luck although are the Lynx really the Lynx without Napheesa?

I will be at Sky - Liberty at Barclay looking for Crystal to build on the solid second half she had against the Fever

At least spell her name correctly.

I don't have Amazon Prime so can't watch, but looks like New York-Chicago is a barn burner. Lib up 45-44 at the half. Ionescu on triple double watch again. Dolson has 10. Whitcomb finding the range after being in a shooting slump most of the year. Maybe Meesseman is finding her groove for the Sky, she also has 10. 7 for Stevens off the bench.

Triple double hit at end of 3 quarters. Impressive stuff.

Evans had been playing quite a bit for Chicago, nearly as many minutes as Sloot in several recent games. Now that Allemand has joined the team, Evans minutes are disappearing.

Delightful game, very fun to watch! My favorite Huskie had a great first quarter, Steph really benefits from Sabrina. Dangerfield and Stevens also performing at an elite level.

Messeemen is so smooth and Xu is a revelation.

Vandersloot and Sabrina are really putting on a show.

The Sky may be the team to be the W.
