When Ezi and Sue get back, Gabby needs to go to the bench. It doesn't look like she ever will have any offensive game.
And when Russell is in the game you need at least 4 players who can score.
This very well could be Gabby's last chance to make it in the league.
Another player who needs to go is Prince, the last 3 games 0-14. As a reserve, that is unacceptable. Gabby gets 140,000, and Prince gets 115,000. Bring back Davis who had 18 pts the other night, and is in her 20's, and let Prince go.
Gabby signed over seas with a French team for 22/23 season.
The French playoffs ended today.
She would be suspended, based on the current version of the prioritization rule in the WNBA, for next year.
So this could well be her last WNBA season.

Next year is the year you are fined a percentage of your pay for missing the season opener. The next year is the suspension. There could be a number of stars not playing in 2024. Stewie, Jones have already hinted they are possibly not playing.
You can't blame them, they only have a limited time to make the money.
There is a big difference even between the max of 500,000, and the Approximately 1.2 Stewie was making overseas.

Gray is playing for Las Vegas today, but no Young. Plaisance inserted in the starting lineup.

I know I sound like a broken record. Wilson was just chosen for Player of the Month (along w/ Alyssa Thomas). I just DON'T see it. And today when her team could use her stepping up, off to a rough start. 2-8 shooting, 2 rebounds approaching halftime. Young has been the Aces best player, not Wilson, and Plum has probably been second best.

Bird and Magbegor finally back. Storm up 13 on Sun. Hopefully they won't collapse down the stretch like the Merc did.

Sun have been playing very well. Will the lack of a PG catch up to them? I just don't think either Williams or Heideman is really a PG, although both are quality players.

Oops, Storm lead evaporated right before the half. Magbegor has 13, but Stewie and Williams have combined for 4 points. That ain't gonna get it done, especially against the Sun.

Russell is back for the Storm. I think this is the first time all year they've been at full strength?

4 games going on simultaneously (why?). All at the half, all within 3 points or less.

Minnesota beat NY and Atlanta beat Indiana earlier today. Ionescu has been on a tear, 31 today, third straight game w/ 23+.

Powers played dynamically throughout, including 3 for 3 from three Lynx shot out to a huge lead, Liberty came back but Minnesota had the last run. Fowles, K-Mac and Rachal Banham were pretty solid, as well

Wilson line--4 pts, 4 rebs, 4 fouls. Stokes is outscoring her, she has 6. Long way from over, but looks like Plum is trying to put the team on her back. 25 pts (9-13 shooting), 5 assists. Aces had stretched the lead to 11 but Dallas stormed back to within 3 at the end of Q3.

Jeez, Sun blowing the Storm off the court in Q4. What the heck happened? 24-9 so far, Conn. up 9 late.

Storm trying to steal it back. Bird has found her 3 point shooting touch today, 5-10. I'm guessing 17 is a season high points for her. Stewie never did get going.

Phoenix gonna get a win over LA. It's been almost a month since their last W.

edit--Nneka only starter in double figures, but Sykes and Carter off the bench join her. I think some of the wrong players are starting for LA. Lexie Brown? What does she bring? After several strong games in a row Katie Lou disappeared today.

There it is. 32 for Plum today, probably won't be her last 30 point game. Gray had 18. Other players did not step up in Young's absence, but they were able to hold off Dallas.

I know last year taught us that the regular season pretty much doesn't matter AT ALL, but right now it looks like we should just put Las Vegas and Connecticut in the Championship and forget about everybody else.

Storm got within 4, but no closer. Lost by 7. Quiet game for A. Thomas, but J. Jones, B. Jones and Bonner all scored 21+. Magbegor and Stewie couldn't offset that and...Russell and Lavender just aren't of the same caliber as the Sun frontcourt players. 4 points for Gabby. Maybt it's time to start Talbot instead.

Russell is on a 12-15 minute schedule, for awhile. When she gets cleared for regular action. Gabby needs to sit and have Russell at center, with Stewie and Ezi at forward. Gabby should be more effective off the bench at forward or guard.

Both had some bumps along the way, but currently #2 and #3 in the league in scoring are the two Kelseys--Plum at 19.8 and Mitchell at 19.5.

Liberty went 4-30 on 3's. Brutal. Lose Allen with 2 quick fouls wiping out their best 3pt threat. Dolson was shooting often in Q1 but not connecting from 3, Crystal just not hitting her 3's and what happened to Whitcomb. Sabrina put on her superheroine cape but not enough.

It's getting close to the time where Seattle needs to look at the head Coach. Since the Olympic games, last year they ended up 5-6. This year they have started 5-5. A record of 10-11 is unacceptable, for a team looking to win a Championship.
The offensive and defensive breakdowns in numerous games this year should be reason for looking for a new coaching staff.

I think you and I are in agreement that it was a bad hire to begin with, and not getting any better with the passing of time.

Players of the Week--Plum and Jonquel Jones. Third member of the Aces to get the nod and at least the second Sun.

Then you add to the mistake this year bringing in Pokey Chapman who was a disaster at Indiana. The other assistant is someone with no coaching experience at all.
Seems as if the new GM is in over her head, even though she was the assistant for a few years.
Having 3 guards 34 and over is not a recipe for success. Sue and January is fine they were good last year. But it was time to move on from Prince who has been a fair backup for years.

The hire just didn't seem to match the situation: veteran team that needed a steady hand at the wheel. I can't really see how management discounted Gary Kloppenburg so easily, particularly since he guided them to the championship. With his defensive prowess and Sue/Stewie/Jewell on offense, it seemed like the obvious move. Well, he's in Indiana now, tweaking the defense for Carlos Knox.

Not saying Noelle Quinn can't be a HC at some point, but this time and situation didn't seem to be it.
