Yeah, same. Angel to Atlanta is a good fit, though she will need to work on her three point shot but I think her rebounding and defensive prowess will greatly help Atlanta. OTOH, with the historic 27/28 classes, I think Chicago may be the winner in the long run. My guess is that Atlanta is trying to stack the cards to win now and Chicago is following the Mystics blueprint with a full roster reload over the next few draft classes.Hold up, what's the news on Citron?
The Sky traded the 4th pick to Mystics for the Atkins and Mystics used that pick to draft Citron.Hold up, what's the news on Citron?
This is my take too. Angel and the front office clearly weren't a good match. Getting 2 future first round draft picks from Atlanta in 2 insanely deep drafts could become incredible value.Yeah, same. Thanks. Thought I missed another trade, which wouldn't have been surprising. 😁The Sky traded the 4th pick to Mystics for the Atkins and Mystics used that pick to draft Citron.
The move makes me think Griner is moving on and they need more front court depth. If they're making moves like this, I highly doubt they're done.I actually think Chicago will benefit from this in the long run. There was definitely some locker room drama for the Sky, and I think they are taking steps to fix it.
I’m not sure Angel is what Atlanta really needed to vault themselves into winning a title, though. She fits what they want to do, but I think they needed more shooting and spacing.

Considering how Hillmon's shooting range has extended significantly in the last couple years, I don't see that being an issue. Atlanta didn't play her solely in the post last year.I think it’s bigger than Griner. They are probably fine with her leaving, but I don’t see how Naz Hillmon and even Bri Jones fit into this. I believe Jones is coming off injury, but all of their posts occupy the same spaces. I think a stretch 4 would’ve been my move but they definitely aren’t done.

I’m sorry to hear that 😢The WNBA can do whatever it wants. I will soon no longer have a local team to root for, so I don't care.
If Washington continues its rebuild, there is a chance neither pick will be as good as the ones Chicago will have. This is my take too. Angel and the front office clearly weren't a good match. Here's an ESPN article on this:Hold up, what's the news on Citron?
That’s one of my favorite gif’s. How I feel most mornings! 😩![]()
I'll give it a try 😉
One thing for sure is Atlanta will move ahead of the pack in the all important me bounds race.Yeah, same. Apparently the trade wasn't initiated by Reese or her team.
And was Wigner the one who committed to the 4200 seat arena? A couple years before they moved they were averaging around 11,000/game at an arena that’s easier to get to.Jamila Wideman Out as Mystics GM....on the first day of Free Agency and a week before the draft?
Michael Winger, her boss, said they had strategic differences on how to go forward. Hold it, wasn't Wideman the engineered the trades of existing players to get Sonia Citron, Jacy Sheldon and a first-round draft choice from Seattle?
And isn't Winger the guy who has overseen the demise of the Washington Wizards?
So, he thinks so highly of administrative insight that he thinks the coach can do double duty on free agency which was, ahem, Wideman's baliwick.
The Mystics looked like one of those teams you could root for, with Citron, Iriafen, Amoore and more coming into the fold.
Now, I'm not so sure the folks driving the boat are up to the task of serving some really good hoopsters.

Well, Coach -- err, Director of Basketball Operations Johnson -- won't have to worry about the core designation much this year, since the Mystics probably won't invest in any of those who qualify. However, he will have to decide about RFA Shakira Austin.CareFirst Arena, formerly known as the Entertainment and Sports Arena, is home to the Washington Mystics and the NBA G League's Capital City Go-Go.
In 2025, the team moved four games to venues in Fairfax, VA (EagleBank Arena) and Baltimore, MD (CFG Bank Arena). The larger downtown Capital One Arena was ongoing renovations in 2025, so no games were played there.
I am not sure how long the Mystics' lease is, nor am I sure how many 2026 game will be moved to larger venues.
