WNBA 2026

Eh, it's the preseason. I think it was quite apparent that the Fever were testing their team defense with some defensive concepts and for whatever reasons, the players were not on the same page. I doubt we'll see a repeat in a week with a trimmed down roster, more familiar substitution plans and an overall more focused game plan.
What was quite apparent to me was the Wings -- specifically, Buckers, Siegrist and James -- were hot that quarter.

As for defense, I'll meet you halfway. While I didn't see any novel defensive concepts out there (I think this was the Fever's first game), there were new players who might not have gotten what was expected of them with White's concepts and/or how to work with one another. Plus, the anchor of it all -- Boston -- was firmly planted on the bench, as was Lexie Hull. And Breezy Bri Turner's weakside defense is now in Vegas. So there's that.

But the Wings made whomever was out there pay with an efficiency that you normally don't see. Too bad they couldn't hold that until the regular season! 😉

I think FTs last night were 43 for Indiana and 17 for Dallas. The game was in Indy. Caitlin got a foul call on most possessions. That's why Azzi had to sit. Indy is a good team, but the foul disparity was ridiculous.
Watched a good part of the first half, and it had to be the worst officiating I've ever seen. Clark according to the Officials got fouled 5 or 6 straight times down the floor, and it looked like there only should have been 1, 2 at the most.
They better get that straightened out or they will lose a lot of viewers. The league isn't all about Clark, despite what some people think. She is a good player but has a long way to go to be a great player. Learning to play defense will be a start.

Hmm. If there is a bit of an over correction for allowing Clark to get mugged and assaulted without a whistle for much of her time in the league so far, so be it. I'd rather rather that than what has transpired so far.

Stewie got mugged worse then Clark her first 2 years in the league, and she was coming off 4 NCAA championships, and being on the Olympic team.

I don't remember that specifically, but I have a really hard time believing it. Clark's rookie year, a significant number of players in the league were intent on injuring her and putting her out of action. I don't think there was that kind of environment w/ Stewie.

What proof do you have of their intent?

I watched Sylvia Fowles on TV, when Stewie went for a layup, get pulled down by the neck
with no call in Minnesota. That was Stewie's 2nd year. The league overall was a lot rougher back then . When Stewie came in the league, you had a lot of Physical centers who would destroy you if you came in the paint.
